Gosnow called into the head of law enforcement for the Clearwater NF.
He spoke with Jill...
GOOD NEWS GOOD NEWS!!!!!
She says at this time they are not restricting any sledding in the Great Burn in Idaho.
NO VIOLATION and NO ENFORCEMENT.
Who likes them apples??????????????
HOWEVER...WE CAN'T RIDE IT UNTIL THE JUDGE SIGNS OFF ON THE RULING.
If we violate the current status, the enviros would sell it to the judge that sledders can't follow current rules, so we shouldn't get any of it back.

Subject: Great Burn
Carol Hennesy from the Clearwater FS sent Sandra Mitchell, Scott Bledsoe and myself an email yesterday about the amount of snowmobile access into the Blasklead Mtn area. They have been doing fly overs. As I have previously mentioned, even though the FS and ISSA signed an out of court settlement it is not binding until the Judge approves it. Why this is taking so long is a question no one has the answer to.
There are some intervenors who are trying to change the settlement agreement and while I'm not privy to the exact language, I would suspect they do not want the area reopened while a new Travel Plan is revised. I have heard some commentary that this is some sort of ploy by the FS to keep it closed. The fact is the FS is as perplexed as we are at this point. My concern now is if people keep accessing the area while it is technically closed the wilderness advocates are going to challenge the proposed alternative Special Management areas within the RWA, claiming snowmobilers won't respect boundaries anyway. There has been a lot of collaborative work to get the Special Management Areas on the table so DON'T SCREW IT UP NOW.
I have seen inquiries on our FB site asking how to get into the Great Burn and Scott Bledsoe has also told me he is seeing the same thing. It appears there are a lot of people who have now heard about the Gt. Burn through our asking for comments on the Clearwater Forest Plan review and are now finding people to take them into the area. The simple answer/solution is it is closed until further notice.
Now Carol also told us that there will be increased patrols on the coming weekends, especially on Presidents Day weekend. Not being able to ride in the area tears me up as it does the rest of you but sooner or later we will get it back.
The FS has been pretty understanding by not issuing tickets so far but their benevolence has limits. I have heard the Beaver Ridge area that is closed is getting hit hard and the FS law enforcement can access that area very easily so pass the word around.
