Great day sledding yesterday, bout 5-7 feet good snow as well, skalkaho, signs of quite a few slides tho.

Gosnow called into the head of law enforcement for the Clearwater NF.
He spoke with Jill...

GOOD NEWS GOOD NEWS!!!!!

She says at this time they are not restricting any sledding in the Great Burn in Idaho.
NO VIOLATION and NO ENFORCEMENT.

Who likes them apples??????????????

HOWEVER...WE CAN'T RIDE IT UNTIL THE JUDGE SIGNS OFF ON THE RULING.

If we violate the current status, the enviros would sell it to the judge that sledders can't follow current rules, so we shouldn't get any of it back.

Too bad it's spring in January, this year is way F'd up...

So, will they even be checking the still closed MT areas adjacent to the ID areas???

right

Yeah, so I suppose we'll still be wasting money on sending someone in to keep track of us, seems like a waste, but when has the Forest Circus EVER made sense...

They should just give up and save us all some money.... WE take better care of it than they do anyway...

So, my usual spot is unloading at taft exit off the I-90 and headed north of the highway and riding around there.. I've also wandered south too (dominion peak etc)
I'm looking to go out riding this Sunday, where is a new area that I should check out? Coming from Spokane, so I'd like to stay sort of within the same driving distance as Taft is.

Winger, how was your ride?
Good to see you, man.

The flat light sucked, so we farted around on the Williams side and never dropped down into the Kelly side.

How was the drop off into Kelly?

We left the gas drop about 4:30 and could hear you (we presumed it was you) coming. You might not have been to the meadows yet.

Even up at 7000+ feet, an inch of crust on top. Sugar underneath.
Did you actually see our avy pit on your way out?

I've got a torn up shoulder, and because of that crusty snow, I'm pretty sure and fairly tired tonight. LOL

Ok,,,,,,,, we never did pass the saddle again in the daylight.... We left the burn tree at about 9 ish. Into Kelly was good, had to put a little English on er to stay outta the rhubarb..... Other than that, good day.....

Hehe, good day indeed..

Had a buddy who rode Leo Lake yesterday.

They parked at the bridge due to the road up the canyon being too icy to drive.
Road was very icy and a LOT of dirt showing.
They had to stop a LOT and cool sleds down. There was a lot of dirt. Like March or April.

Outhouse was only half covered. No snow keeping the door from opening.

Visibility SUCKED. SOME fresh snow at the outhouse. Maybe a few inches on top the wet crust.

Up high, there were a LOT of trees exposed. Felt like a June ride in there. He said he didn't know how he made it to Leo.
They had a hard time navigating.

They had a hard time getting back. They said it was so bad, they missed the gas drop at the test hill. LOL
