Hiya Boyz,
I'm ready for snow! We got back from camping in ID last week, picked up another dog on the way home, then Sunday Sledhed and I were up on the Pass all day with about 18-20 other folks from the club cutting trees, stumps, limbing and putting trail markers up on the alternate trail on the East Fork. We were the only ones besides last year's club Prez who didn't have 4 wheelers :D I got to ride with this guy I'd never met , while Sledhed rode with an old sledding buddy on his ATV. I'm getting excited (about snow, not the ride with the strange guy - although he was pretty good looking :p)

WN, how's the baby growin'? How's MB7 feeling?

I need a report on the 509 premier!

Tell all your friends, the Clearwater DEIS comment period is closing this Friday.

SAWS Members,

Below is the alert that SAWS sent out August 18 asking for you input on the
DEIS for the Clearwater NF travel plan. SAWS recommended that you support
"Alternative A" in our original Clearwater DEIS Action Alert sent out August
18, and have verified with Forest Service managers that this is a perfectly
legal and valid alternative. Since then new facts, feedback, and lengthy
discussion between SAWS volunteer directors, has resulted in a more precise
equivalent alternative, "Modified Alternative B". SAWS would like for our
membership to include in their comments that the Forest Service has not
demonstrated that an early season forest wide closures is scientifically
imperative to the needs of big game animals during their seasonal migration
to wintering grounds. For all intensive purposes this is saying the same
thing as Alternative A, but adding a challenge to an unproven attempt to
limit snowmobiling. No net loss of riding terrain or season. SAWS finds
either alternative to be acceptable. What is critical, and this has been
repeatedly expressed by the Forest Service Managers, is that you write good
substantive comments in your own words. The comments are what the Forest
Service records and acts on; not the alternative you select.

If you have not sent your comments to the Forest Service please do so in the
next few days. The comment deadline is this coming Friday.

Thanks. Scott

We got a good letter in with pictures of historic use!

Sunday up at Lolo Pass there was an inch or so of snow on the ground and sporadic flakes of snow all day. At 2 p.m. the temperature up there was 32 degrees and the wind did NOT help!!

We were up at the Warming Hut with the Club and drug, bucked, split and stacked 7 to 8 cords of wood for the hut. The crapper also got painted by the new club prez and his wife and the roof was replaced on the hut. The Club paid to have 30+ miles of trail brush hogged. We're getting a brand new groomer (machine - not person) in November as well!

It feels like we skipped Fall and went right to Winter. I'm hoping the weather isn't a tease and it ends up warming up to the 70s in November :D, But lows of 15-ish for a couple nights soon is hopeful!

Wellllll kind of quite in here these days.

I'm just getting around to starting my project. I'm down to the bulkhead and tunnel. By tomorrow they should be seperated.

Curious about your jeep xrs800pheonix1. What is it and what all have you done to it?

I have one of those projects also. 83 CJ5 w/401. I need to swap out the stock axles. Looking at replacing them with a set of Currie's.

bringing my sled over next week to start tinkering! got a cheap 162 maverick im gunna slap on, gotta get my clutch crap figured out. still dont know if im gunna go with a pooo primary or rebuild my doo primary. posibly putting Big John's trail torquer kit in or if i feel like dumping alot of cash ill do his 840!
let it snow!

Hayden, find that ebay listing where the guy parted out 8 or 10 Revs. There was a thread on here in the last couple weeks in General or F/P.

scott, i havnt seen it. i just joined the world tuesday so i havnt seen it. could ya send me the link since you are the sw pro here lol

Ragin,

Don't over look RKTech's stuff. I think I remember something about his piston swap and maybe porting that was close to hp with the 840 kit but a lot cheaper.
As much as he bugs me with his view on turbo's, I think highly of him as a competent builder. With his porting and head on my 03 poo, it caused someone on here to spend lots o' money to stay a step ahead.(name rhymes with Restmont):D
