Lightest Sled???

"Other days it was 50 miles of hood deep powder and the throttle never left the bars"

HAHA!! it is so funny when people say that. Maybe the biggest lie on snow west . . . ?

Hit Togwotee WY in the right conditions one time. Full pin right from the get-go unloading at the highway. Put 30 miles on and got back to the truck with about 1" of fuel in the bottom of the tank on my 2011 M8. Have run my pro-lite out of fuel twice 70-75miles with 13.5 gallon tank. Had a lot of rides though where I've only burned 7-8 gallons. As cool as it would be to have a small capacity tank and the reduced riding weight, it's not practical for a lot of us year round. Maybe someday when I have a house at the base of the mountain and can ride from my doorstep... probably be forced on electric by that point anyway.

i think cat went down a gallon or so on there tanks for a year and went back to the bigger tank right away. Its cool to see how light you can make a sled but i agree its not practical for most people. ive gotten low on fuel added my spare gas and still been back on empty by the time we got to the trucks. Stanley idaho a few years back when they had record snow and it snowed at least 18 inches every night. still trying to find snow like that again.

Yes it does, and yes i have ridden in great snow.
No, no one rides all day with the "flipper to the bar". Sounds impressive though :)
We rode a day during the tail end of a big storm last year Black Friday.

Pushed 3’ of snow into the parking lot on the way in and had 18” on the trucks after 3 hours.

My Silber Axys 800 162 was in the boost to not get stuck going downhill.

My 11 gallon tank was on fumes after 2-2.5 hours of riding all within a mile of the truck. (Turnagain pass Alaska)

I don’t think anyone is ever literally saying the flipper is to the bar every second, just gets put there every time you want to move…….

Fingers crossed for another opener like that! We do need more snow for them to open it up next week though

Been in one of those. Wish i had boost. You literally couldn't go anywhere unless you were full throttle. Never held a 2 stroke wide open for that long. My sled died and i couldn't figure out what was wrong. Was going to leave it and at the last minute i told my buddy i was going to check fuel so i didn't feel stupid. The whole time thinking no way could i already be out.I was out and i left my fuel along side the trail because I was going stuck going downhill. Bet i didn't have but 15 miles on. You couldn't even bank off something and get back to your own track so you could stop and get a breather. It was nothing but full throttle. Once in a lifetime storm and I've been in 2 like that. Wouldn't understand if you haven't been there.

So we need to specify: "throttle was on the bars if you needed to move. I did let the sled idle at times."

I know I was in a hugely lucky storm in Cooke City. Every other time I've been there it was either hammered packed and tracked snow, or just downright cold as hell. That was a magic weekend where it just kept dumping snow all 3 days, and we didn't end up with 100 miles after 3 days. Spent most of our time digging out the idiot teenagers, and occasionally getting lost in the blizzard.
