Lets talk Motec stand alone ECUs

I have seen the impulse kit run day in and day out, from revy to golden at every riding area on 2 different nytros it flat out works all the time in any condition,

my 2 cents

Pro systems need pro tuners with dyno, its not ment for an average guy to try tuning it. do we agrree. if you can pay 4-5000usd for a system you got the time and mony to get it fitted and dynotuned by a pro.if i have to repet myself, impulse got great stuff. But we are thalking about pro stuff VS impulse system.Impulse gives you value fore mutch less money.and is still far better than piggybacks and rb3.

http://www.powerbygns.com/Products.html This guy greg got great stuff. read what he tells about stock egnition and coils. Give him a call, and im sure he can help you out and explain the diferens using a pro system, to you guys. Im norwegian,so my language is not soutabel for explaning this. Just want people to open their eyes ,so they know there are great systems out on the marked.

http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/products_ecu.html This company got map for ALPINE,IMPULSE AND MCX on their MD35

http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/products_acc.html Nice tuning and info display

Pro Tuners also have a very bad case of tinkeritis. Again, I have a Motec. so I know what it takes to tune it. Impulses stand alone has the SAME EXACT TUNING Capabilities as the motec, and I have the documentation to prove it. It compensates for altitude and temp ect.

How bout you fly here from Norway, bring your sled, and lets see how it does against an impulse.

Truth is, and by the sounds of it, you really don't have a clear idea or vision of what Impulse iis running for their stand alone. If you did, you would agree with me that it is a true stand alone. Trust me, I have seen his, and I HAVE A MOTEC, AND I HAVE SEEN MOTECS OPERATE ON CARS. Both provide a lot of the same functions.

Question is, are there any "Pro Tuners" that can even ride/push a mountain sled to its potential to dial in, or find a good rider that has the patience for tinkeritis? I dont know many guys that would have the patience to waste riding days. Most just want to ride and make a few simple subtle box changes on the hill if needed.

I agree. Astro, aren't you the one who put the 1500 Skidoo in the Polaris chassis?

I would agree with you on the fact that Motec has been around for a long time, and there are a lot of guys who run their ECU.

BTW, do you still have that sled, or a few vids of that sled running the ECU?

This is the best Posting in the whole thread.

and the Answer is "NO" 99,9999999% all sledders have no idea of tuning a engine. and those 15 people who are the pro sled tuners in the country , are busy with their own stuff.

programmable units are a perfect solution, but a programmable unit with a map from my turbo kit manufacturer is much better solution.

this thread is stupid everyone is just backing up what they run use or build. pick what you want it will work with the required amount of tuning.

Well here is the problem. We have a guy or guys showing up on snowest trying to impress everyone with Dyno numbers and 4 seconds of wide open on a drag strip. How does this apply to the west?????Not sure. It's not snowmidwest or snoweast...its Snowest. If these guys would show us something that is running in the mountains and impress us all, then great, let's see it. If they want to build drag racers and impress a bunch of mountain sledders, they are probably wasting everyones time.
I will ask a question. Who besides Impulse has a Standalone fuel system working in the mountains? Not just running, but something they can show video of.

We have a fuel system working and have plenty of video and customer endorsements to back it up. Yet people come out and tell me it's a joke, or it's not technical enough. Is that what mountain riders want? More technical? Something you need a laptop to tune up the mountain, or worse...ride it running like a bag of crap until someone can tune it?

I think these nay sayers should either leave or post up some proof of their stuff running in the mountains. I for one am getting tired of it.

this is the way to tune a race engine guys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh2ZRiRUs2Y&feature=related you get all the info you ned from the engine, this way. makes it run like a plane :plane:
That's awesome. That was testing the first gen box in June 2010. That could be more testing on snow than you have ever done.

Your probably upset because I never sent you that free kit you asked for in March so you could make me famous. You must think your pretty special to receive a free kit Bjoern Olav Kyrkjerud Vaa.

Did you not think I would remember who you are?

So you should get a complete kit for free??????

I take from your name that MCX wouldn't give you anything for free either?

Man lack of snow is getting everyone fired up! Well here is my two cents. We run the new Impulse stand alone with fuel/timing. We have launch control, switch for two maps, cam sensor and the option to have a race harness like we do that plugs into factory plugs. We can also run stock, LS1, MSD coils etc. We can run one set of injectors or like on the raptor we use the stock injector blender with a second 750cc injector. We run 10lbs to 28lbs of boost, pump to Q16 race fuel and 9:1 to 11:1 compression all with great results. We also have a cnc ported head with bigger valves, bigger cams, strokers etc. This set up has been designed and tested just for sled/quads and the support is great. Can something else work as good? A course there is more than one good fuel management system out there.

I think competition is great and can only do good things for the sport, plus it's more fun to whoop on a group of sleds instead of one:face-icon-small-ton

I'm not sure what you expect coming on here calling down fuel controllers/systems that guys like Paul and Neil have invested their hard earned money, time, winters, and sleds for. They have helped alot of people regain faith in their turbo sleds after some internet cracker suckered them into buying some POS that doesnt work. You need to get some sleds in the mountains here, get some guys that can really ride/tune, test and push your chit to the limit. Thats the only way your going to have a successful product. You talk about "Pro Tuners", I call these guys pro tuners, not some geek with a dyno, degree and a laptop telling me something will work. These guys have video, movies, pictures to PROVE their stuff lays smack on the mountain. So jump in your little blue :plane: and lets see this chit.

At least the turbo yammi section got livened up a little. There wasn't much action here for awhile. My old carbed Rx-1ton will stomp a mud hole in any of these fuelie motors anyway.:face-icon-small-hap
