lasik eye surgery

Been looking into it for a while now. Did all the research and decided on a Doc near my hometown that has a really good reputation. Just gotta set aside the Flex dollars now and do it tax free. Probably on for next year.

My sister was legally blind without correction and now only needs readers.

One friend of mine that had it done has trouble seeing well @ twilight hours that transition from light to dark and in the morning dark to light. Anyone else have this issue?

20/20 the next day--I agree that this was some of the best money ever spent. I would recommend checking with a local doctor if you wear contacts, you have to stop wearing contacts and wear glasses for 6 months to let your eyes stabilize before the procedure--you cannot just walk in today and have it done tomorrow. Gotta be prepared, but you won't regret it-GOOD LUCK!:beer;

I had the flap cut with laser and then had the Allegreto Wave laser to do the actual shaping. I have had none of the light sensitivity problems most others have. In Cali I know they were paying at the time $6K per eye fo the same procedure. I paid $3500 total at Hoopes & Aldridge in SLC. I think its just called Hoopes now. I wish I could find it again so I could post it for all of you., but I found a site that I paid $400 to and then they give you the recommendation of which Dr. and then it saved me $2000 on the price and it gave me like $50,000 in insurance on the procedure. I thought it would probably end up being a scam but it wasnt.

Actually I need to thank Jim Phelen (Yes of Thunderstuck fame) as he was good about helping me pick which procedure was the best.

I had it done about 10 years ago -- freaking awesome. I wish it had been around a lot sooner, I was 38 or 39 when I had it done.

My eyes were always light-sensitive, contacts bothered the crap out of my eyes. My light sensitivity actually improved dramatically (not usually the case, I guess).

My eyes felt a little scratchy the first day, but was amazed when I woke up the next morning. Reached for my glasses to read the alarm clock, and realized I could see it. Yes, my eyes were so bad I had trouble reading it from 3 feet away.

Went to a Colorado Rockies baseball game the next day; sat in the upper deck and was blown away by how well I could see. Indoors under poor lighting was not great the first few days, but that improved every day.

DEFINITELY get it done!!!

I find that's the toughest light condition for me. Nothing to worry about though.

got mine done in fargo at TLC, I have a lifetime warranty on my eyes!
couldnt wear contacts, eyes got too irritated

recommended glasses wearing time is a month, minimum is 2 weeks
Im so sick of these effing glasses... in 3 days i will run over them with my dirtbike!!! Cant wait!!!

I'm going in next month and having it done.
Been wearing glasses since I was 5. I can' read anything more than 3' away from me. I am blind as a bat.

Can't wait to be able to wear the new 509's I bought as a treat for getting it done.

Had the surgery 10 years ago. My eye sight has started to go again. I will probably get the surgery again. The only draw back I had was as time went by I had a harder time seeing in the dark while driving. No regrets!

I want to get it done but the doc says my pupils are too big plus I have astigmatism so I'm not even sure I have the option.
Anyone have it done who has astigmatism?

Yes -- my eyes were something like -7.5, whatever the heck that means, and some astigmatism. Mine turned out well...

i've thought about havin this done but i got a thing about things close to my eyes, when i first got contacts it took forever before i could get them in and out relativily fast. so the hole thought of the little wood planer type thing slicing off the top of my eye kinda freaks me out, especially since its my eyes and i gotta watch the hole time. although i would love to not have to have corrective lenses anymore, i cant where contacts much anymore cuz now days they irritate the hell outta my eyes so the only time i wear them is when riding the toys and such, and glasses are a pain in the a$$. maybe one day i'll nut up and get it done though.

The doc that I found suggested the Allegreto Wave laser & after doing the resurch, it looks like the best option for me. The company I'm going to go with is the #1 in Cali, & I can still do my follow up with them before I leave there. Then when i get home, I can use my local doc to do check ups & report back to them in Cali.

It'll run about $4500 for both eyes.

To add to my experience, I had the bladeless flap cutting also and it was fine. I think it cost me somewhere around 4k for both eyes and has a lifetime warranty. If my vision needs corrected again it will be at no cost. Of coarse I think if I read the small print correctly (evil they put small print on the form in the eye doctors office) there are some outs in that guarantee for them.

By the way is it just me or did everyones office have a buch of smoking hot receptionists. I think they checked my vision on the follow ups that way.

I had a bad astigmatism and the Alegretto Wave took care of it easily.

I am the same way. I hate things around my face. When I was young, if someone got to close to my face, the fight was on. Hate going to the dentist for the same reason. This was easy as can be and like someone said, there were a ton of hot women there. So that was the icing on the cake ;) .

I had mine done about a year and a half ago. Just like everyone else has said, the best money I ever spent. The only issue I occasionally have is that I do get some very minor starburst or light glare at night once in a while when I do not drink enough water. It doesn't impair my vision, it's just a little annoying. I just up my water intake a bit and the problem goes away.

Yes it can be done several times. As I understood it, thats one of the advantages of the laser cut is it doesnt have near the scaring making it much easier to reopen the flap for future adjustments. they told me I am pretty likely to need a "fine tuning" in 10-15 years.

BTW you can choose where you want your eyes main focus. i went with both eyes having long distance focus to make them better for hunting. When I get older I will probably need reading glasses but I love seeing Antelope several miles away when my Dad can barely see the same ones with binoculars. most do one near and one far and most office people and heavy readers get both near.
