Lance Armstrong, gone for life?

Well, okay, the worst part is that he gets singled out for this crap. Do they go back and test EVERYONE's pee with these new tests or are they just doing him a favor?

Why quit fighting it and upholding your claims if you are innocent?

Why not tell them to show all the evidence if you are so sure you never cheated?

I tend to think he finally learned excatly what they had, or they got some new info and he knows he can't dodge/fight it.

No different then Clemens or any other ball player that claims they didn't juice....

Why quit? I know I could think of reasons i would quit.
Not sure about Lance, but i know that i couldn't afford to spend the rest of my life's $$$ to prove it.

If i knew privately for sure that I was innocent, I'd rather have my money and a better life than go down broke and yet publicly vindicated from something that I'm already retired from.
There comes a point that, though I am right, it's just not worth the further turmoil and fight just to say "I told ya so" to the test of the world.

:amen:

at his age his competition days are over anyway...he just got beat by a 17 year old who's bike malfunctioned and had only one gear in this weekends 35 mile climb/race for more or less fun.

As for his guilt,i don;t care,i think he still is/was the best because i know dang certain that anyone that would stand a chance of beating him would HAVE TO BE ON DRUGS AS WELL..if in fact he is guilty..

If he did take them....then second, third, forth. fifth, sixth and so on and so on were taking them as well..

So bottom line, the playing field was EQUAL....

I don;t blame him for shutting it down. How many relationships have you found it easier to just walk rather then fight and leave years of hard work behind just because you want to get on with the next step in life..??..same thing..

I'm with Lance on his decision and I believe he raced just like I did / do with my sleds. Read the rules and if it is not prohibited in the current rules then I take advantage of whatever I can do to the sled. In Lance's case I believe he played by the rules and pushed them right to the line possibly, if the tests they had at the time could not detect something then I would consider it fair game also.

It is a "Witch Hunt" to go back with new technology and try and strip him of what I would consider fair and legit wins. Enjoy retirement Lance! You are another Unfortunate victim of the Corrupt Self Serving American Government Bureaucracy.

Very well said Scott. It is just like when you are in an argument with the wife over something. no matter how much you try tell her that she is wrong, she will deny it. Stubborn.
Then when you "sometimes" do find proof that she was wrong she will still assume that she was right or just open another can of worms and start a new argument. no point in letting it drag on and on.

for all Lance has done for cancer I am grateful for him. Also for his great career in cycling. Mother-in-law just finished fighting breast cancer 2nd time around and have a couple family members/friends lost to cancer so very grateful for all he's done. you still the man Lance in me and my families eyes....

Pretty sad that they can come up with a new test and go back to the past winners and do new tests while at the time of win he/she passed all the required tests.

everyone at that level is cheating....
He never tested positive....
I'd give up fighting that battle too, spending time enjoying life is more important that fighting a battle you know you won't win
