Few glasses of wine don't mix with mechanical work (plus it's too dark anyway), so here are more photos:

Not 2 days before Aman..... but yes, I am almost enjoying the learning curve....

Honestly, considering the damage and Arctic Man, have you thought about just buying a new spindel and then taking a "sled" hammer (sledge hammer ;) )and busting the crap out of the A-Arms to get her "ridable"??

(your not gonna hurt it more unless you bust the welds- its possible-- then you need that new middle piece)

Sounds crazy, but considering the time crunch and circumstances I would do it.

When your riding deep who cares if a ski is 2'' back :D

Yeah Travis we know better.....rumors have it that you hiked your leg and you were peeing all over the place and then your buddies were right behind you sniffing your marks...LOL!! :p

unintentional? yeah right! lol :face-icon-small-win :p

J/K :D

hahahahahaha... i just pee'd myself.

Hey AkSledHed... this John? Ol' Steven... who watched me grow up on arctic man's back in the early 90's when i could barely start my own little 440 polaris sport?

yea. ray is fking funny as hell.
I did not go. Last time I checked I was a dude! I was supposed to go south, but did some serious power lounging instead. I did ride Eureka on Sunday. I am really happy to see you girls had fun. WTF Dash? WOW! I am at a loss of words. I am off on Wed and Thurs. Let me know if you get parts and need help getting it fixed.

I don't know what spindle is? It's not just the Aarms, it's the frame as well. The 2 D shaped cast brackets that support the chaincase and the other side of a sled, and the metal bottom have cracks and breaks in them, even one chaincase attachement point busted.... I think that the Aarms might be fine (have not looked at them yet that closely)....

Ridgerat, I was giving you the same advice bout 6 weeks ago, so where is your new ride? It's funny coz I asked my husband last week what he'd think about me getting new sled.. Did not go very well.... I hope he doens't think I did this so I have a good reason to get another one, hahaha....

So, does anybody know about a place where we can either rent big rivet gun for the huge rivets that hold the structure together, or point to a shop that does it? Or should we just use screws?

Stu............does that help? Yes it's me, my wife was there at the meet and greet on Thursday and said she saw you there. She didn't ride with the group, we went to Petersville and had a helluva good time. I even put my sled in the creek below Kenny Creek Lodge and got a little mud on it. When are you headed to A-Man??

IMO Forgo the rivets, they are a huge PITA to grind off later and one may have to do this repair more than once. I replaced my "Nun" on my REV twice.

I used Stainless Steel, button head screws. I believe size 10-32 is small enough to fit in the pre-drilled holes that come with your new components. The button head screws are also socket head, so they accept a hex or "Allen" wrench.

I locked these down with SS Ny-Lock nuts, and used blue Loctite as well.

Procurement is an issue. SBS, LOWES, Home Despot, or Fasteners and Fire, for machine screws, washers, and lock nuts.

IMHO, you can get more clamping force from the fine thread 10-32 screw, they are removable without heat, and/or grinding/chiseling, and look sano when exposed.

The attached photo is over overexposed but you can see the Button Head screws installed on the nun, for the "440" bracing. I also used a c-clamp when I could to get maximum clamping force.

My .02

Can you believe this sled was born a Beavertail? Something like #86 off the line.

Pickin up a new sled tomorrow actually! :D

I've got a big rivit gun that will do the 1/4" rivits...if you can wait til tomorrow afternoon when I get home you can use it.

When I pulled onto the creek on Saturday there were like five guys trying to get a sled out. After they got it out and while enjoying a slice and a soda we watched another sled go right in. I asked for some sort of marking tape, but Kenny Creek et. al. said they would go mark it.

I meant to swing by on Sunday with my survey tape to see if they did, but got sidetracked (literally) and came out a different way. Sounds like you did not get hurt. That's good. There are some very random bomb holes out there now for sure.

I had a GREAT time as well!! Thanks to everyone for making this a successful Ladies Ride!! Next year will be even better!!

Dash, Man!! I had no idea the amount of carnage you did to your sled. :( That's a huge bummer girl!! You ROCK as a rider ~ you should definitely come to Eureka and ride with our crew sometime! I hope that you get your sled fixed so that you can go to AMan.

Thanks to Jennifer for being the leader, Dash for taking pictures, Amanda and Kara - glad that you were able to join us too - Team Pink for good ol fashion girl entertainment, and Michelle for being trail sweep! It was a great great time had by all.

Might have been a different hole, I don't remember seeing any tracks going into the one that i went into.
I should have known about that hole as I've seen it a bunch of times while riding out there, guess I was having too much fun. Someone should definitley mark those holes, if someone hits one going fast it's not going to be pretty, luckily I had slowed down before I went in.
With Arctic Man going on there shouldn't be a lot of traffic out there this week, might have to take a day off and go ride there again.
