La Grande Sno-Drifters Grooming News

Groomed yesterday from Catherine Summit to Glendenning and made the loop to West Eagle and back to the warming shelter. Some new snow up on top, about 6", on a good 4' to 5' base depending on where you are at. It was sunny most of the day. The wind was blowing so the snow on the open hill sides was a little wind packed. We where finally able to make a good trail, it had cooled down and was not a slushy mess, so it made a nice trail was able to work the snow in that lower country.

At the warming shelter looking at Flagstaff.

How is Big Creek

Trying to get the wife out this weekend. Anybody put in from Big Creek or Collins Road lately?

Last I heard they were logging around Balm Cr and plowing the road? If so, where to turn around and park? Is it any good starting from there... should be snowing right now!

Thanks

Sounds like fun, Halfcase and I are going there tomarrow. They have all the parking plowed at the last bridge, and I plowed out a good parking spot for about 3 to 4 riggs (depending on size), there is a good turn around where they quit plowing. We will just park at the last bridge and ride form there. There is a good layer of snow and ice on the road from the last bridge to where they quit plowing! We are leaveing here about 9:30 in the morning!

Thanks

Got your report, but wifey didn't want to go "that far" today. Can't blame her, we ended up taking baby bear, so she's a trail only rider then. Went up behind the ranch and found some good enough action.

Too bad, would of like to hook up with you guys.

Next time.

Hey, nice trench!

Well, the max put its initials on it... but made it on by. I was shooting for the big yellow pines above, but the bank was a little softer and more drifted in than anticipated.:D

I was just happy to not be stuck vertical after the initial... uh-oh moment. I like the new 151 x 2.5 (trimmed to 2.25 or so)... huge difference.

Heading out here in a minute, but up here again (baby bear). Did the mountain lion loop yesterday and not a single track in the fresh. Not one (well, minus a million elk). Maybe dial one in today.

Groomed Ladd Canyon to Pilcher Creek today, then back up to second crossing and then back to 5 corners, and back to parking lot. Lots of drifts on the 43 road (gone now). Would say there is about a foot and a half on top, the trail turned out nice just the right temp. so foggy that you could not see anything on those open hills. Made it real hard to know where the road was!!! Sorry no pic's today, all you would of been able to see would be a gray haze.

Groomed Catherine Creek today, left the parking lot then went to Flaggstaff and on to West Eagle, and around to the top of Glendenning. Went back the same way to make a double pass on all of that trial (it needed it). Some good snow above 4700 ft. looks like about a foot and a half over the weekend. Snowing lightly when we left the warming shelter, and it started getting warmer as we got closer to the parking lot, not rain just wet heavy snow (soggy).

Groomed Ladd Canyon today, went out the 4305 that goes around our lower country and comes out a 5 corners. Then I went down to where our trail hits the county road a Wolf Creek, and back to the beaver pond above the parking lot. Then groomed the lower loop road and the upper loop road. There is about 8 to 10 inches of new snow in the lower country and about 1 1/2 ft. at 5 corners. Nice and fluffy above 4500 Ft. mark. There is getting tobe a good amount of snow in the Ladd Canyon area, to make for some good riding on and off the trail.

Non-eth premium in Baker

Humbolts (sounds like that anyway) on Cambell. If coming off the freeway, just past Albertsons on the right. Or Black's Distributing down on... hmmm Main? Downtown. One is like 91 the other is 92 non-ethanol.

Been a little under the weather this week and have not had a chance to groom until today, last Sunday the trail from Ladd Canyon to Anthony lakes was groomed. Today I groomed Catherine Creek Summit to West eagle, then back to our warming shelter. On the way out we groomed the two lower loop roads, the 900 and the 7746. Hopefully will give a nice change of scenery on the way to the warming shelter. Has been snowing a little up there this week, there is about 6 to 8 " of new, a little more on the Eagle Creek side. Should make for some good riding this weekend!!!

7740 Rd. right below the warming shelter.

Groomed Catherine Creek yesterday, hit the 7740 and the 7746, and then around to West Eagle and back to the warming shelter. Was up there today and there is about a foot of new on top of the groomed trail, it is still snowing should be good this weekend no matter where you go on our side of the mountains!!!!

Weather is being a pain. Have been up riding for the last 5 days, and as of yesterday it has been good. Last night it started raining blow 4800 ft. so a little wet, but still preaty good above that. Will hit the trails starting Tuse. of this next week. We had some preaty good trafic on the trails this last week. We will try to polish them up for everyone!!!

Hey suitcase, better pack extra gas for your chainsaw if your going to groom up Ladd towards Pilcher. WOW... lots of trees down across the trails everywhere. Snow was awful, terrible, nasty up there Saturday (at least when you got stuck!). And there had been 4 wheelers all over tearing your nice grooming job up.

We are waiting for a change in weather to go out again (never thought I'd say that). But man... I'm still sore.
