KLIM warranty, what a joke.......

I really like all my klim gear but I use TNA gloves, best glove you can buy. my pair from last year were a year old, I took them to the sled show on the weekend because they had a seam that came apart, he took one look at them and told me to go grab a new pair. no questions asked. Don't get any better than that!!

glove warranty

I dont believe there is a glove in the world that will hold up perfectly after a few seasons, or even 1 seasons, of abuse without showing some wear. Especially a technical mulit-layer breathable glove that is grabbing steaming muff pots, and pulling out stuck sleds etc. However, I do agree that Klim gear is not the be all, end all when it comes to durability.

Hard Times

We have been a Klim dealer for 6 years and this last year we saw some real changes. I loved them and they always took care of us but that has changed . Currently looking for a new cloths line that will replace my klim gear.

Here's my story along those lines....and why I will keep buying True Adventure Gear. I am copying and pasting my entire email back and forth with TAG. Mine is the slanted, they are bold

Hey Peter,

I picked up a pair of Storm Gloves last year and absolutely love them. Well this past weekend I had them in the car as I was traveling for Thanksgiving and my 2 year old daughter decided to throw one between the seats in my car. Of course the Velcro was open and got stuck to the seat and when I went to pull it out the Velcro closure flap tore right off of the glove!! Since I love these gloves so much, I just have to get them fixed. I was hoping you could tell me how much it will cost to repair(if it is repairable) so that I could enclose payment when I mail out the glove for repair. Also who do I need to put a certain address on the package or just send it to TNA?

Thanks for your help
Robb

Hi Robb --

Please send us both gloves, so we can check out the Velcro tab on both gloves. If one came off, we'd like to check both out.

If the repair is doable, we'll take care of it and send them back to you at no charge.

Merry Christmas & Happy Trails,
Pete

Hi Robb --

We're sorry it took so long to get back to you.

There was not enough left on the velcro tab that was torn off your glove so reattach it to the glove, and we don't have another tab for a left-handed glove.

What we can do -- we can return the gloves and you can use them for casual use and we would sell you a pair of our newest style (15% warmer than last year's model) for dealer cost less 10% .

Let us know what you'd like to do.

Happy New Year & Happy trails,
Pete

For whatever reason I didn't get that email so I got this and the previous email again

Hi Rob -- Not sure you received our original email. Don't want you to think we forgot you!

Sent this back to them

Hey Peter,

Thanks for resending the email...not sure what happened but I never got the first. As for the gloves, just let me know what shipping for both the new and old pair will be and I will get a check sent out in the mail.

You guys continue to impress me with your customer service. I will for sure be spreading the good word on all the sledding sites I hang out on, as well as out in the snow!

Robb

First, thanks for the compliment. We try hard to keep our customers happy, and it's good to know that it's appreciated!

Now, for the bad news. Due to a mixup at the factory, we are not getting the shipment of Medium Storm Gloves that we expected next week. (We are totally out of both Medium Powder and Medium Storm Gloves.) We are getting in a shipment of Medium Powder Storm Gloves. We're pretty embarrassed -- offer you a great deal and then say "Sorry, no can do!" We will sell you a pair of the Powder Storm Gloves (warmer, same thickness, and a gauntlet -- ) for the same price we promised on the Storm Gloves . Just let us know.

Either way, we need your address again so we can send your original gloves to you. We're off to Salt Lake City first thing Thursday morning to meet with our factory rep at the Outdoor Retailer show. We'll be back Sunday, and can ship your gloves Monday.

Happy trails,
Mary

Mary,

Do I need to include shipping for the gloves. If so let me know how much it will be to ship both pairs. My address is

Just let me know the total that I need to write the check out for and I will get it mailed today.

Thanks again

Robb

We'll ship the gloves out this morning. Total cost with shipping will be 34.27.

Happy trails,
Mary

So not only did they try and fix original problem, when that failed they offered one heck of a solution. True to form I got both my gloves and the new ones in the mail.

They didn't fix the first pair due to not wanting to wreck the water proof membrane. When I got them back I just hot glued some velcro to the wrist and used the old tab to "close" the glove like normal. Wore that pair of gloves out west last year and no problems, as well as no issues in casual or snow shoveling use all winter.

Like I said hands down best glove and best service I have had.

I love the Klim Powerxross gloves because the are dry, warm, comfortable and not bulky, but the seams always seem to fail. My last pair lasted one ride. I need to sent them back...we'll see how it goes.

The new Slednecks gear looks pretty cool, I really like the bomber gear...

Wife's freeride pant after three rides, holes rubbed through the Knees! Not from what u might think, but from the tank, & she's 110lbs!!! Got the call today, they'll fix them for $50!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, but no thanks I'll be callin HMK!!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain

Yeah, I posted a thread a while ago with pictures and got some flak from some people and got some sympathizers as well. I honestly think their gloves suck, for lack of a better term. I also think the way they handle their warranty claims suck too. You had the exact same problem as I had and seems you got a vaguely similar response. My other Klim stuff works pretty good, but I know I will be looking elsewhere when it comes time to "regear."

Thanx for all the replies guys!

I'm looking at the TNA and RU Outside gloves.

As far as the rest of the gear I'm looking at the HMK and Arctiva gear, loved my Fox gear but it's getting old and the zippers are freezing up on me after 3 seasons of riding, still waterproof though.

Marmot Randonee Glove. Supple leather palm and a full gore-tex liner. Warm yet breathable. I'm still using the ones I bought back in '99. I bought a new pair last year, so I should be good until about 2022 for gloves.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Klim klimate gloves do SUCK. I had 3 rides on mine before the V split seams. I begged klim to let me pay to upgrade to the togs and they refused. I have alot of klim gear, but I will forever tell people about their crappy construction on the klimate gloves. klim screwed me on those, so I will screw them back as much as possible.

To those that claim that no glove will hold up, I call B.S. I have a set of TNA's that have 3 seasons on them and will use them again this year. I love them so much I bought another set for my "just in case gloves"after the klim debacle. I solved the "iceball" issue long ago by using snoseal on them once or twice a season.
I like them because of the rock solid durability, they have a great grip on the bars, and yes, they are thin enough that the grip heaters will actually let the heat get to your hands. I have had other gloves that my hands got cold because the heat couldn't get thru.

This is long but a true story.

I have had excellent luck with both Klim PowerXross and Togwotee gloves. I bought my first pair after becoming frustrated with TNA's not lasting more than a couple rides. I have never had a pair of Klim gloves come apart on me. I have a buddies who hates Klim gloves. He has tried several pair and always had them pull apart at the seams. He finally bought some TNA's and loved them. We had fun throwing $hit at each other about it for a few years and decided in the trailer one morning to trade gloves for the day. Neither one of us had any problem's with the others gloves at the end of the first day. I actually like riding in the TNA's, and he like riding in the PowerXross. We decided to take it further, and kept each others gloves for a few more rides. By the end of the third ride his TNA's were pulling apart and I was getting wet. By the end of the fourth ride my PowerXross gloves were pulling apart at the seams and exposing the Gore liner. I sent the gloves back to Klim and they replaced them with a new pair. I don't remember if he bought new TNA's or got his warrantied, but we both exchange new gloves never worn. Within five rides the TNA's were junk, and the PowerXross were pulled apart.

Long story short, I ride Klim gloves and still have never had a problem with the PowerXross or the Togwotee's. He rides TNA's and never has a problem. We came to the conclusion it was the way we ride??? We have riding buddies who can't get Klim or TNA's to last and choose ride in something else. I guess you ride what works for you.

Ok guys, I have to tell you that some time vendors do listen. Someone emailed my post to The VP over marketing and he just called and reassured me they do care and wanted to know what he could do to help, so I told him.
I happen to have a sales rep that was 90% of my disapproval and caused most of my disappointment. He has been let go and they asked me to give them a chance to make it up to me. So that is exciting to me that maybe the perception that I was getting was false. I have never had any issues until my last rep and he made those decisions that was making me feel that maybe they were doing like cat and cutting back on taking care of there customers. He did assured me that this was not the case and to give them the chance to make it up to me.

So try again if you feel it is a warranty issue. I recommend going threw a dealer.

Thanks Snowest forum.

I am a nobody as far as Klim is concerned, I have never had a issue with any warranty items. I have has two over the years. I love their products and customer service. I always wait for summer to send stuff in?

That's what we like to hear...

This is the way it's supposed to work and glad to hear you are getting some resolution, especially as a dealer. If I were in the market for a really expensive pair of gloves, I might give the KLIM's a try.

Good luck with the new rep, and it's good that KLIM called you and worked it out. Gloves do get hammered, like boots - but for the asking price of them, they should stand up to something better than what is being reported.

I ride bare-handed, by the way. ;)

Klim said the gloves had heat damage and you said you handled the muff pot. Am I missing something?
