Just brought my new pro

I would eliminate the altitude from the equation, because as far as I know this motor has an altitude compensator providing input to the ECU. Run the appropriate setting for the fuel you are running, regardless of elevation. Unless you are willing to bet your motor on the quality of fuel that the pump SAYS it's supposed to be......LOL

true, i have put 1000 miles on mine this way with no DET, but i feel if you can throw a higher compression head on your sled without the need to change octane or fuel map, then you can run a factory leaner setting with the stock head and be fine. elevation does make a difference in compression, not only A/F mixture.

I put money down on a 163" from Bristow's last Thursday, small world ! Now to find time to go pick it up. Been on Ski Doo last three sleds, but back to Polaris for now.

Are you local to st. cloud? We will have to ride this year, i ride in the U.P. a lot and planning a few trips west. Please let me know if you get them to change clutch weights for you for no charge.

grease your suspension often with a good synthetic grease.

my dad just did his 2 sleds and mine (storing it at his house for the summer), and he said i had one grease nipple that took alot like it wasnt greased from factory. when i bought my 14 i checked them all..... not sure which one it is..... but yah good to grease it a couple times a year.

also, i dont know how tall you are, but im 5'6" and the best thing ive done to my pro is shorter bars. i have the nxtlvl dan adams bars

Congrats. You're gonna love this sled.

Some basic Pro longevity stuff

1) Run the best gas you can find (non-eth if available)
2) Make sure your resistor is set correctly for the gas you are running
3) Turn up your oiler to 40:1 (about 2.5 to 2.75 turns)
4) Check your oil cap for proper venting
5) Follow your break-in protocols
6) Make sure your suspension is set for your RTR weight
7) Warm it up every time (120* or better) before taking off
8) Add some scratchers and run them whenever the snow is thin or hard
9) Route your exhaust solenoid vent tube outside the belly pan

Then ride the piss out of it

Question 'bout N9 - why it should be done, and where is the best place to re-route it?

Great post. Do all this and just ride it.

it will bleed black sooty oil into your engine bay, i bought a longer hose and ran mine draining out infront of the lower a arm. some guys run it by the exhaust outlet.

sledneck_03 nailed it. Yeah, is not really critical to engine longevity but a clean belly pan is a happy place. The thing about oil is it holds dirt and grit which can lead to pronounced wear and premature failure.

I listed it because it's an easy mod that keeps your sled clean(er).

Picked mine up today from Bristows. Doug was the salesman, I called him yesterday morning that I was coming today he wanted a couple day notice. He at first wasn't they would have it done, and I should call first. Then he called back saying he forgot he had them prep it already, and he forgot. This sled was pretty dirty and oxidized I think it was sitting around for a while. He also told me it was set up for out West, but it was set up for the flat land. It will clean up fine, just don't like liars.

Fyi to you guys picking up left overs. Check under the shock rubbers for corrosion. The Pro 600 I got last year for the gf got 3 new shocks under warranty.

Yup, great advice here. I've never understood dealers that don't protect their inventory.

Just picked up a holdover 14 here in utah. Triple S has some super good deals right now if you're in the market. This is my first ever brand new sled, I'm so stoked for winter now!

Yeah it's a 14 pro so it's got the belt drive. I just came off of a 12 so not much of a change..

Just went and Paid up for my 2014 hold over 163- ( it's still in the crate) Not picking it up till Mid- November-- No use to have it till I need/ want it

Have been noticing that some 2014's come with the low windshield like yours and some with the Higher windshields like in the 1st post.. What Gives?

Dealer said low is standard.. and BTW from him for 8,000' they shave 2 grms off the each weight- ( for the 163 vs the 155) balance the clutch ( primary) Also was good enough to buy my primary back from me as I ordered a Elect start kit-
Pretty good deal and must have wanted my business- as I have owned cat's and doo's for years- and only Poo back in the XLT / Edge day's

Looking forward to fix it kit( MTN TeK) after warranty is gone ot 1200 miles which ever comes first......Installed dozens of these and only one failure:face-icon-small-coo

Anyone in Utah/ Wyoming wanting the primary balanced $85.00 plus shipping from a guy I know in Utah....... Have saved me nothing but $$$ from the Edge day's
Be buying add-os- at the Denver and Utah Snow show's next month
What ya all think of an extra QD gates 8MGT-720-36 belt and where on earth you all carring them ( Tunnel Bag?)

Same exact thoughts from the get go for me. I read less than impressed with Doug's people skills. I came in to pick it up 2 days later and he ignored my. I spent 10k and he forgets who you are. I had to remind him what I was also picking up.

They keep them on racks under the shrink wrap and they sit outside from the time they are setup to the time they're picked up. The racks are close to the busiest highway in mn, likely explaining the corrosion on our sleds. Mine was fairly minor.

I plan to send a few things to Hard Coat in Minneapolis to be anodized and Teflon coated.
