It's Friday, drop a quick note to your rep.

Thanks to Dave at Saws for motivating me this morning. I think I'm going to make this my Friday morning routine.

Here's my topic for the day that I sent to my rep. Now find your rep.

As the government imposes more restrictions on the citizens use of PUBLIC land, please remember the Boston Tea Party. There are so many issues that the general public is completely fed up with when regarding our government it's hard to pick just one to make comment about.

Today, I'm mentioning the concern with your extreme point of view with regard to closing access to public land by designating it wilderness. Granted some is very deserving, but much of what you propose to impose as wilderness is highly valuable to the citizens as recreation, with multiple uses including motorized.

I ask that you take extra time for each of these decisions to remember why our country had the Boston Tea Party and what the next party will be called when our representatives forget how our country started.

Every SnoWester should know exactly where his reps stand on this issue, and follow your lead in dropping them a note. Research which way they've voted in the past and vote accordingly.

Thanks Yammadog,

At least I got through to someone.

Below is the email I sent to our WA SAWS members and the attachment is the postcard I received from Representative Dave Reichert.

WA SAWS members,

Another message from District 8 Representative Dave Reichert.

I would like to make a few more comments regarding Mr Reichert and his pro wilderness positions, but as a 501(c)(3) organization SAWS can not get too involved in politics, but we can certainly present facts to our members. Below is a postcard that I recently received from Representative Dave Reichert.

Mr Reichert says "Increasing wilderness is important to me". Is increasing wilderness important to you? I hope not.

Recall that Mr Reichert also supported the Wild Sky Wilderness which is now a reality in our state.

Does your U.S. House representative support more wilderness? Most likely they do if they are from the west side of the cascade mountains. As you know, wilderness equals limited access and no sound forest management practices - which in turn equals no snowmobile use and more forest fires due to unmanaged forests within wilderness areas.

You may want to tell your representative in Congress what wilderness really means - it does NOT mean "saving our forests for future generations" like many so often claim. Wouldn't it be great if there were still places where "future generations", our kids, could still enjoy nature by means of a snowmobile? Those areas are rapidly declining!

Lookup your U.S. House Representative
