Is there enough snow for a road ride anywhere?

Headed up their tomorrow

Hey sled head UT I am headed up to baldy tomorrow, I just bought a turbo'd apex I want to do a road ride with it, hopefully their is enough snow, I have a big enclosed trailer, do you think I will be OK parking wise and turning around wise? Do you have any pictures of it today? Thanks

I just got down from lake creek above Heber city. We were in a truck and it was snowpacked most of the way. There isnt alot of snow but there is some. I guess you could ride on the trail but its too early for me. There was a SUV on the way down pulling two four wheelers that was jack knifed. We had to help them out to get by. I wouldnt recommend driving up there without good tires and four wheel drive (possibly chains)

01polaris800: 4 place trailer is a tough one. I think you could find a place to turn around but could be tricky. Sorry, no pics today.
Take your T-Bo to Highline area (across from Butterfly Lake). There is a mostly rockless meadow there that you could wheelie your sled in.;):D
About 6" of new there today.

P.S.
I think we'll get some fresh tonight too.

Headding up there in the morning. Sounds like I might possibly bump in to a few of ya up there. There'll be 2 of us on Summit 1000's (1 black & Yellow, 1 blue & yellow). Here's to making it thorough the day without any damage! :beer;:beer;

So sorry for those that went out today. We had a nasty Ice Storm last night. Everything is coated with ice. I bet the roads are horrible. Also the mountains are completely socked in. Couldn't get Internet Service earlier or I would have for warned everyone.:(

I am located across the street from Bear River Lodge (Northern Uintas). My cabin is at 8000 elev. Our vehicle has been running for over an hour trying to melt the ice off the windows. Every square inch of our property is like an ice rink. Kids have been ice skating on our deck. My sister in law is coming up to get a Christmas Tree today. Will probably be a rescue type situation.

YEP! I can definitely say it was an icy sum beech up there today. Heated shields were a requirement! Even with it I was constantly scraping off my lens. Any time we'd stop and get off the sleds it sounded like we were breaking glass cause there was about 1/4" of ice on top of the snow. Scratchers would have been really nice today too.

We parked at lily lake and went about 20 miles up the road from there. We took our chances and snuck off the road a couple times to play a little, but mostly just stayed on the road. Today was pretty much just a "check everything out" ride so it wasn't all that bad. I had fun regardless of the weather, and it got a little of the itch out of my system.

Going to Puerto Vallarta next weekend, so hopefully the next 2 weeks will be good to us so I (and the rest of us) can get out on some good snow!

This is picture is where we unloaded a Lily Lake. That bare spot on the road is NOT a bare spot. There was about 1/4" of ice covering the road right there. Pretty much anywhere you could see road was a sheet of ice.

This is just picture of us pulled off the side of the road taking a break.

Holly Shizz Nits, what a crappy day. Drove from Roy after filling all four sleds and the truck to spend a day on a skatting rink with slide off's everywhere and the wife screaming in my ear to turn around.

Only made it about 6 or 8 miles past Brear River and did not dare go any further. I got out of the truck and could not even stand on the road. I must have seen 8 wrecked cars.

Well to bad. I will try again another day. At least all the sleds are full.

Man Oh Mighty, Holy Farggin crazy day:o, so sorry to hear. We've never seen anything like this in the 9 years I've had my cabin. I heard there were wrecks everywhere. Just glad none of you were involved. We took our wheelers out and it was ice on ice. Kinda fun though.:)

Yeah I got a little sideways on the way up. Just goin along about 30 miles an hour or so, and all of a sudden my rear end decided to go a different direction. Nothin major, just a little slip, a tap on the 4wd button, and we kept on truckin.

What a day

Ya I just got back from up their today too, bad ice storm lol, I parked at Whitney, and rode up it was like an ice skating rink lol, oh well tough I did get a chance to get the turbo'd apex opened up a little bit in a meadow. I did see the 4 or 5 cars and the big motor home off the side of the road in the trees scary, I could only drive about 15mph with my enclosed trailer. I was the one with the big 07 ford f-350 Grey lifted with the white enclosed trailer.

well thats not good to have a layer of ice in the snowpack this early in the year, could make for a very bad avalanche problem later in the season, kinda worries me....:(:(

Wow, this is unusual ..... WY got snow - UT got the ice. Seems it's usually reversed. I checked out the mountains late Thurs. and found enough hard, setup snow on the roads for a quick ride. Missed getting there yesterday, but tore it up today. 40+ miles, no damage, even had about 4-6" of fresh up on top. Sorry to hear ya'll got ice......

My thoughts exactly Duner! Everyone please remember this ice layer! If it doesn't warm up and melt some, we will have slides to the ground when the December and January snow piles on top of it! :(

Bingo! we have seen this set up before and need to respect it when it does dump, and it will. I'd rather we lost it all (snow) and started again... or I'll only be climbing into bed, no chutes!

Yep, this could get UGLY. Every hill will have slide potential if we don't see a big thaw in the next week or two. Like I said before, I have never seen an Ice Storm like this so it really worries me to think what's in store down the road. Yuck:face-icon-small-sad
