What is the verdict? Ready to build a boosted Pro this week. Looks like 2500-3k savings on a very low mile 12. Is 2013 worth it?

I went from 2012 last year to 2013 this year and I would say it is worth it.

1st-better rod ratio
2nd-thicker cylinder skirts
3rd-better mapping

The belt drive is yet to be determined for the long run, but I put on 178 hard miles with long pulls and it didnt skip a clog or break.

You build first class sleds. I would go with the 13. I know my 2013, stock, is a better sled than my stock 2012. It is a noticeable difference. I've put hard miles on my 13 and it has not missed a beat. yes, a turbo changes all that, but I feel the 2013 is a very good plaftorm. My 2011 is with Cody Phillips getting the Vipec, and as soon as it is done I will be evaluating and figuring what to do with my 2013.

1st-better rod ratio There has been no rod ratio change
2nd-thicker cylinder skirts
3rd-better mapping

In order to change the rod ratio; You must change either the stroke length or the connecting rod length, neither of which was done to the '13.

There are two reputable shops that do this by installing longer rods and shimming the cylinder up the required amount.

***PAR will rebuild the crank and provide you the shim and gaskets for $800 as long as your crank is in good shape.

***Indy Dan does it as well but he is doing a complete build on my '11 CFI and he quoted me $2500. Which includes replating / sizing the cylinders after his bridging work on the skirts.

Andrew, after seeing your builds, and knowing what your expectations will be, I too would buy a '13, junk the belt drive for something higher quality/better track record and don't look back. The '13 motor upgrades SHOULD increase the longevity of the motor and you'll have a great platform for your next mod. I built a 12', but that's because that's what I had at the time. It continues to morph every month.

I would get the 12 take your 3k you save and for 2500 Indy Dan will fix the motor up and give you a 3yr warrenty on it! Beat that...
Then for 900 you could get the c3 belt drive...
