Killings turn focus on San Francisco sanctuary law

SAN FRANCISCO - The scene repeats itself daily on city streets: a driver gets stuck bumper to bumper, blocking an intersection and preventing another car from turning left.

But authorities say that was enough to cause Edwin Ramos to unload an AK-47 assault weapon on a man and his two sons, killing them.

The deaths immediately drew public outrage, which intensified when authorities revealed that Ramos, 21, is an illegal immigrant who managed to avoid deportation despite previous brushes with the law.

The case has put San Francisco's liberal politics to the test, setting off a debate over its sanctuary law that shields undocumented immigrants from deportation.

On Wednesday, Ramos pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder in the deaths of Anthony Bologna, 49, and his sons, Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. Bologna and his older son died in the intersection on June 22. His younger son succumbed to his injuries days later.

Do you suppose our tax dollars are being spent on defending this scum as well?

I agree ! We should not waste more than the cost of a bullet on him anymore than someone born in this country! He should be shot and buried in the landfill with the other garbage! wasting money on him is no worse that the BILLIONS we waste on our own criminals !

BS Instead of going in and rounding them up and deporting them, go after the employer with BIG fines. IF there are no jobs they sure the heck won't be coming here by the truckload.

Welfare pays more in many cases than these jobs!! Welfare is a MUCH larger drain on our economy than any social services that are afforded illegal immigrants.

also a i do consider myself lucky and happy to live in this country. That fact was afforded to me my great great grandfather that came hear legally from germany, learned the language, payed taxes, and worked his tail off. The other side of the family is of english descent from waaaay back.

The punishment for being her illegally should be harsher. Going through the legal process is fine, that's how most of our families got here and what makes this country great. Becoming legal should include speaking english, knowing the laws and US history (like it used to!!!)....I have a Japanese Aunt and before she could be a citizen (in the late 1940's) she had to speak, read,write the language, read and know the constitution, more educated on US history than I am and be educated in our laws and customs. Why did this change????

Instead of welfare make it WORKFARE, i.e. like everyone else they get their paycheck (workfare check) AFTER they work, weather it be picking veggies, cleaning motel rooms, etc.

So are you agreeing with SF's sanctuary city policy courtesy Gavin Newsome?
This is 3 lives that did not have to be taken. The guy had a rap sheet and because of this policy, they never notified the fed's of his status. If this had been your family, would you be so dismissive of his crime?
