I think Snowest should be overly happy that they have a successful forum that promotes their magazine for free.

If i had a snowmobile related forum for my company, i would be more than happy to have members on it for free looking at my products every-time they log on. Thats just me though.....

Morals

I pay for magazines and read them every day. Some things about them I like and some things I don't. When any particular one of them become so morally apprehencible(sp)that I can't take it, I simply quit buying them. I do not continue to read them, free or otherwise, and then complain about them. It would appear that a lot of people on this site right now are deeply offended by the concept of charging for the oportunity to use the site to read,be entertained, share info ,slash and dash,or simply puff out their internet chests, yet they are still here. Why? The owners of this forum have layed their cards on the table with regards to the fees be it right wrong or otherwise. Why are so many lingering around and complaining? I will part with my hard earned dollar and read what I want and leave the rest alone. Kinda like when I read the articles in Playboy and ignore the pics

I don't see any improvement.When I veiw riding area posts its just idle chitchat not any info about condition.I would bet this "fee" will be the end of this site.

i just don;t understand...msn.com is free and it takes a huge effort to keep that going..so is yahoo new and the list goes on of sites hundreds/thousands of times larger being free...but regardless the arguement is over and we face the facts on this site...one question...if a free member is required from a paid member to contribute further then the free status allows the free member...is there an invitation option for a thread for the free member gets extra posting..??...and as far as alters etc...the question needs asking what has driven these people to these actions...now some will disagree with me but alot of these angry individuals do probably feel that they have been removed and forced from something they created....something they really did love..and some city planners just blasted a road thru their farm...destroying the field of dreams...

i think more peeps are upset that they are now being asked to pay for something in which they helped create. help build it and then we'll charge you for it is not a very good business model. this is one of the reasons i'm sure they have no set date for the change, feeling the waters to see if they can get enough paid members. they are gonna have to prove membership numbers to advertisers, which are gonna plummet. i mean real numbers, not the ones they had from before which will no longer patronize this site after the change. time will surely tell...

As for the money going to the sport of snowmobiling, im pretty sure that the owners of snowest aren't going to donate all of the money to the sport. Snowest is a business, period. It exist to make $$$$$$. Dont fool yourself folks!

When you become a paid member, you get the choice of where you would like your donation ( a portion of your membership ) to go. I mean, really, is this a bad thing ? You can support SAWS or an avalanche centre, whatever you like. I think this is a very commendable move by those at Snowest. Of course it will ruffle a lot of feathers. People dont like to be given classifications. Paid or non-paid, we are all comrades on here, no matter what.

no crime in making a living for sure.....but I bet it ends up pennies on the dollar that goes to causes..............
