How to make a 600 quicker other than Buying an 800

I made the mistake of buying a 2016 Pro Rmk 600 instead of an 800, my buddy that I rode with mostly had a 600 at the time also. He totaled that sled and then bought a new 800, so I am looking to get a little more low to midrange, what I am thinking is Kurts Gear Down Kit, has anyone put one of these on a 600, or other ideas on that, I dont want to do motor work.

Just get some quickdrive gears off a 13-15 pro. It gears you down and works great. For power your best bet is a 660 kit or a turbo

The 660- is a good build Stays together and is a very strong runner.
That would be my choice vs buying a new sled-
Or sell yours and picking up a good used/or holdover for almost next to the cost of the 660 complete build- depending what your market is where you are at on used 600's.

Just get a used or holdover 800. You'll end up sinking a bunch of cash into the 600, that you could have used to buy an 800. You'll never get your money back out of a modified 600 and then you'll still always want an 800.

Or just ride the livin $hit out of the 600! Sometimes it’s not the sled, it’s the rider!

I had a few 600's over 5 years. I like the sled, but it isn't an 800. I still think better for a newbie or more timid rider. And it will go most places an 800 goes. Just not as fast or as fun.

Gear down makes it easier to hold rpm's in the deep snow, but less fun down the trail and in snow that is not deep. So I wouldn't do gear down again unless deep snow is all you ride. I found that most mods I tried weren't worth the money.

Remove and lift the windshield about I foot. Hold it there. Roll in an 800 underneath it. Install windshield. Mod complete.

All seriousness, these guys are right. I had a turbo 600 that was much faster than a 600, but was right there with mod 800s or 1000s. For the extra $$$, should have just upgraded. Plus, you'll get zero resale value for 600 mods...might actually hurt the value because many people that get 600s want a mellow, light sled for wife or teenager.

Most people can't ride a 600 much less the turbo 800 that they "need". I ride at 10,000 and love my pro 600. It goes most places that surprise the guys that rely on hp to get up- you just have to pick your line and ride better!!!

I don’t know who you ride with but “most people” I ride with are plenty capable of riding a 90hp sled, which is what your 600 is at 10k’.

Like everyone but this guy said, if you want more hp buy an 800, you’ll be better off in the long run.

I guess my truck isn't lifted high enough and my sled doesn't have enough power to understand....

You will be surprised what a 600 can do when it is ridden by someone who is in shape and is confident in their abilities :argue:

A quick peek at your post history shows you admitting to the 600 being underpowered, giving up some to 800’s, and your riding partners being 20+lbs heavier than you and less experienced.

Keep pretending you’re burandt on your 90hp sled. Let the riders who can utilize more hp discuss the best way to get it.

Yes it is slightly underpowered as I now own an assault 800 and a pro 600. Both are a blast- ill just keep pretending I can ride. Clearly not as good as you iqr.

But seriously: The ssi 660 kit is good. and keep your clutches clean and maintained.

I notice you're in Houghton. In the UP that 600 has more hp than an 800 does at 10k feet. Just some food for thought...

Ahhhhhh.......nailed it!

Are you referring to the horsepower that will never be used to it’s full potential?

I think the OP needs to figure out what is wrong with the 600 and not use the reason because my buddy now has an 800. Ride the $hit out of your 600 and embarrasse your buddy on the 800!

But that turbo 800 looked so cool coming out of a Burandt gooseneck that is being pulled by a jacked up diesel truck! Oh wait, look at that bright colored obnoxious wrap, and how do you pronounce his last name cause it’s in cursive on his windshield! Damn that turbo hauls a$$ going down the trail! I bet he pulls some serious boost while carving in a 100 acre wide open meadow! Wait a minute, is that a small block pulling an awesome line up through those trees!
