How much do you spend a year sleddin?

I'm in the $5K-$6K/yr range. includes truck payment for the days I use it to go sledding, sled payment, insurance, sled fuel, oil, food, lodging, and a small budget for busted/replacement parts... give or take of course...

I have this problem that when I am on vacation I live like I am on a damn vacation. Food/booze/room/FUN prices hold no value to me... I check out the ol bank account when I get back to work and figure out how much I need to work before the next one comes. I am not an alcoholic, but spending $100 a night is very easy to do. It's called rounds for your group and shots with strangers/new friends.

Exactly. There are a few kinds of people in this world. In my view people who want to have fun, cost is not the top factor. Those who struggle to have fun because cost is the largest factor. I say have fun die broke, the dollar is screwed anyway!!!

Interesting....Let me see, we bought a second home in the mountains, it's worth considerably more now than what we paid for it. So that's a plus:D
Usually update a sled a year, 'bout an 8k a year difference. So that's a minus.
Oh hell this is too complicated, we actually do have $ figure, let's just say it's alot!

If I didn't spend money then there would be no point to work. Might as well work part time and not pay taxes. Better yet, be unemployed and do nothing. Work hard = play hard. When I start spending too much money I will find a better job, not stop spending money. If your money isn't spent or "invested" in something material it is basically garbage. I promise, I will die broke. Whether that is tomorrow or in 100 years does not matter.

i do spend a good amount of money on hobbies, but i would like to save for retirement and have something to pass down to my kids.

Actually, this is a good thread for reality purposes. I have never added it up, so here goes:

Typical year:

(2) Sleds insurance $300
Sled oil $75
Belt $150
Gas to get from Minnesota to Island PArk and back and gas for sleds while there $1,100
Assorted accessories and goodies for sled $300+-
Lodging for two out in island park $500
Trailer tires $50
Depreciation on sleds $3000
Food for two in island park (We cook at the cabin mostly) $200
Trail stickers for idaho (I forgot how much exactly) for two sleds $50?
Summer trailer storage $250
Extra oil changes for truck $50

Lets see here, that totals to $6,025 on a typical year.

Last year put on about 500 miles due to crappy snow conditions, and on my sons sled about the same.

so that works out to be about $3/mile on each sled......... WHAT THE? Is that right?

I have a headache...........

Too Cheap to pay parking????

What I don't get is I see a $50K tow rig, pulling a $12k enclosed trailer, with 4 $10 k sleds inside, and 4 guys each wearing $2k worth of Klim gear/beacons/ABS backpacks and yet they won't pay 5 bucks to park in the Last Chance Coffee Shop's parking lot on the Willow Side of the pass. Huh?
