how many miles is too many miles on a diesel.

coudn't see the pics, but he probably did something like hauling RV's..hotshot rig

those guys that hauls RV's put on a crap ton of miles, sleep in the back seat for 7-8 hours and go at it again

I bought a highmiler truck, and it nickle dimed me to death! new tranny, new front end and mis. other problems some costly and some just a total PIA! to track down

If it had the old 12 valve 5.9 engine, I would not think twice about a bid.
But with the newer 24 Valve engine with EGR and other emissions devices, I would have the ECU checked for any trouble codes and do a CARFAX.
Cummins makes a good engine, but the old 5.9 12 valve was a mile maker and good on fuel. The 24 Valve not so good on fuel and they did have some fuel system problem.

Good Luck...

Hi to all I have a 06 dodge and I think service is a big deal to any car I bouht my at same time with other guy from my church and that dude destroys his ride very quickly, his truck with a 60000mi was falling apart so he went and trade for Tundra lost of cource tons of money. On other hand my truck has 53000Mi with zero problems of cource I did proper brake in and I am servicing my truck always on time. Bottom line I would buy older truck with less miles.Good luck.

That was a lift pump issue and is not an issue on this truck, I think the 98.5 thru 02 had the lift pump issues.

you have no clue about a dodge. egr was never on a 5.9... 24 valves with the vp44 had ip failures.btw the vp44 trucks were the best on fuel followed by the ve pumped 12 valves, then p7100 12 valves.

I am a wholesaler on diesel trucks so see alot. Yes it will keep going unquestionably. You ask how many is to many? that question is relevant to what your going to do with it.

You going to re-sell it? thats to many.

Your going to drive it 10k miles a year? prolly ok but steal it

Your going to junk it! Prolly pretty good profit in that too.

With those miles that truck will go through the sale at 7-9k!

Wow, I just bought a '07 Duramax and I was a little concerned about it having 70k miles. Aparently it's just broke in!

Unless you're getting it for dirt cheap, I'd pass. There are other auction deals to be had on lower mileage trucks.

Not to be a doubting thomas on the miles but where you are from Lewiston Idaho is there a chance this is a canadian truck and the milages is in kilometers. For instance if it was 351001 km X .61 miles in a kilometer then it would actually be 214,111 miles which is a little more believable for the year.

The 2nd pic shows the bottom of the speedometer and it's in MPH.

personally i would find an 02 or newer if you can.98.5-01 53 blocks had cracking issues.if you buy any 98.5-02 24 valve keep some money in the bank for a new injection pump, fass or air-dog lift pump.ive went through 3 lift pumps and 1 injection pump on my 02.injection pump failed at 140,000 which seems to be where most do.on any dodge you buy do the key check and verify the codes.2000 and newer dodges can display trouble codes on the dash.
