How light can you get a Pro?

I think you might have taken his post a bit too seriously BCIL.:face-icon-small-ton If you can ride a turbo'd 144 with like 225hp or what not I'll bet you can figure out how to get around on the rear axle of the Pro too.

I'm pretty sure I'll find a way to make the 13 work for us!

Me... I LOVE the super light feeling of a sled that rides in the air, so that's a desirable thing for my style, I just think it's such an easy thing to fix that it's not something I'm too worried about.

Light front end or not... SOO looking forward to running the 13, it's gonna be sick sled. (add boost & I might even want to start riding it myself!:face-icon-small-win)

BC, how about leaving the turbo off your PC for the first few rides as a direct compare?be interesting what you think compared to last years 12 and this years 13 vrs your PC...

weight

hate how the topic gets destroyed after about 15 replys. im hoping to pickup a 13 pro 163 tho so ill be starting heavier. first mod is mesh hood -11lbs. but by pictures im not sure if they are remounting the gauges so not possitive on actual weight.
diamond s hood -8
hps can -7 hopefully acurate
a arms -6 or so
timbersled or kmod coupleing skid. not sure on weight saveings if any
hopeing for a 400lb sled dry for a 163 and if servives maybe a boondocker after the first season

IPS what do you think of running a Kmod or Tsled style coupling skid on a non-boosted 13? I have avoided the coupling style skids in the past on my sleds which are all non- boosted. Didn't want to plant the front end and take away the playfulness. The stock rear shocks on the Pro suck IMO. In the deep they work fine but the rear seems to sag right to a very stiff point.

Fox floats are only 2lbs lighter than stock

Hps can is 7 lbs lighter

Head light delete is 3 lbs lighter.

Fox floats for the rear are 4 lbs lighter.

Alt impact rear arms tba.

The diamond S hood with headlight delete is 11 lbs lighter in total. Add back a pound for a helmet light or LED lights on sled. I will weigh my shocks this week when I take them off and get a real weight. Have both the stockers and Foxes here. The rears springs are really heavy, so 4lbs sounds close. Anyone know if the HPS can is loud or hurts the performance?

is it just me or does anyone know who Dan Adams is? and is anyone aware that his 500 miles on the 13 MIGHT actually be somewhat realistic and his opinions might actually merit some consideration?

Yeah, i'm not trying to say just because he's a pro, that whatever he says is written in stone BUT on the other hand, he def has legit real world riding experience on these machines and probably has a good feel for its riding characteristics and also, you know he is very capable of how to set up the suspension so its not some rookie who doesnt know what he's doing.

This is not Dan but i do work for him durring the winter months and for Polaris as well. The comment made earlier was way out of hand i do apoligize for that and wish to not elaborate anyfurther on the issue as like most of you i too hate when a thread gets off topic..... As for comments made about the 2013 Pro 155...... I want to clarify what was said. In testing these sleds last year i and a few others noticed the "lightness" of the front end of the 155..... Of coarse having the front end in the air is probably the best thing next to sex no lie! And trust me ive owned 4 turbo sleds all of them race gas and nothing under 13 lbs so standing a sled straigt in the air is what i live for. the point i was trying to get at was it became slighly more difficult to control the ski lift in very tight technical sidehills and climbing in deep powder compared to the 163 and compared to the 155 from last year. And like what was stated by others in the thread, by adding differnt shocks with different valving or getting a complete aftermarket suspension you can change this. I was trying to relate the weight loss from the 11/12's to the 13's since it was not really that big of a weight loss compared to the difference you felt in nearly every aspect of the snowmobile...We log tons of miles on these machines so keep in mind stuff like this i may notice but may seem very minimal to someone else. We came up with a saying this past year with the new chassie; The snowmobile has no longer become the limiting factor. The only limits you reach now are your own... The 2013 is truely an amazing snowmobile.....The 155 is a great track length.. I am in no way trying to degrade the value of the 155 as for years it has been my favorite track length to run. I personally found the '13 163 to suit me best. as for the benefits of the 163 out way any small negative aspects of having a longer track, and with the '13 you really cant feel the extra length of track...

BTW it was 39 deg. this morning in Alpine..... winters coming!

In case my previous ramblings were incoherent...

Thanks for the insight into the 2013 and thank you for your integrity.

There was fresh snow on the north sides of the mountains near Valemount earlier this week!! Enough to calm me down lol.

IDP. Sounds like the suspention is settling into a different angle on the 2013`s. One of the many changes done this year was valving changes (I think you pointed that out). Since the springs are still adjustable and you must have tried those adjustments, do you feel the different valving is a cause for this effect?
Also, in your opinion, what are the biggest benefits from these valving changes. Quicker transfer (too quick?), better trail ride, better meadow manners, more showing off for the Go-Pro lol. Seriously, How do you feel these valving changes improved the Pro?

Valving on the 13's is night and day compared to previouse models....You feel the improved rebound in the shock wich helps nearly everywhere from trails to hucks and more controlled sidehilling.... Nothing against the "WE" shocks on previouse RMK's but peeps buying 13's this year will notice the difference your first 5 min on this sled.

IDP the only really bitch I had about my Pro was the rear suspension. It worked great in the deep snow. The ride was really harsh on the trail or in shallow or hard snow. The suspension seemed to sag about half way through it's travel then stiffen up a ton and get really harsh. I had my shocks revalved by Holz and had the remote reservoirs with adjustable compression knobs installed and it made it much better but it still had that sag then stiff feel. Are the 13s different?

IMO... you could make a 2013 PRO 155 weigh in around 385 lbs.

Diamond S hood, headlight delte, Ti arms, Ti Alt impact rear skid parts, Can, and some other goodies.

385 unicorn pounds! I ride my sled with coolant in the engine, gas in the tank, oil in the reservoir and when I'm really riding hard I put oil in the shocks! Probably 520 RTR stock, 470-480 like you have it modded.

Peeps that came to ride these sleds durring the Demo Tour all had great things to say about the trail manners of the 13's. Unfortunetly im not a shock gurru and dont now exactly what valving changes were done but i can tell you this.... for the minimal changes in the shocks for valving its is very noticable and most every one will love it.... this in no way means no need for aftermarket setups just helps those who like to keep it stock and simple and there wallets a little thicker:face-icon-small-hap
