How dedicated are you - cold temps?

We were out on the weekend here, and it was around about -20*C, and then a crazy wind up on the ridge, and that was well past cold enough. Took my gloves off to check my belt/clutches, hands stuck to the clutch cover, gloves froze solid in about 2 minutes, eyes freezing shut haha, stood close to the wood stove when i got back home!

riding in -20 C is a normal occurenece for me. the coldest i rode was about -40 with the windchill last year. wind was blowing 80km/hr that day since i was riding the phazer with no windsheild or any protection it was pretty chilly. did not nearly layer up enough so i was puttin it to the bar to make it home.

Have been out in -50f with windchill -150f or so. It was cold ride for 25 miles.
Will go out in -30f to -40f if need to hunt for food or to travel to villages.
Just dress warm with fur.

-62f actualls has been the coldest I've ridden in. That was back in Mn as a kid. It was cold enough they closed the schools, so kids being kids, we all went riding! I've been out many times here in Ak in the -40 range. Now that I am in the upper 40's myself, I try to stay out of that weather! About -10 is my limit anymore on purpose.

I think the coldest I ever rode was about -30f...Haven't been able to ride in anything colder...I did however go snowboarding once when it was between -40 and -50 out...Just dress appropriately and should be fine...Hands do get cold sometime but just depends where you are riding I guess. Keep in mind we do trail riding out here so not alot of moving around all the time.

I don't know how cold it was, but it sure felt cold. January last year we started early in IP. The coffee started coming thru. We stopped to take a leak. The pee froze before it hit the ground. In fact, had to break it off to get it all out of me.
Now that's cold.

Sorry, had to have some fun with this one.

Not sure of the temp but it had to have been really cold because it was something about propane units were not working because something happens to propane at a certain temp. I couldn't remember what it was but diesal trucks were all along the roads scattered as well up north (MN) in 2000.

We stayed at a motel along the trail and the sleds sat outside chained up. well next morning me, my mom and dad decided to go for a day ride.

Well went to pull my 800 tripple over and I think my shoulder came apart. The engine was so cold I couldn't pull it over. All 3 sleds were the same. An extension cord and a hair dryer warmed the engine up enough to pull it over.

i felt like the kid from the christmas story as I could barely move because I was so bundled up.

Oh well we put on a 150 miles that day and it was awesome.

Now my sled doesn't leave the garage if it is below zero as the 440 probably won't run so good at that temp. I don't like changing jetting.

the old tin tub will run fine in those temps though!

rode last weekend at -20F temp and -40 below windchill. had some trouble getting my sled started so we started the truck and let the exhaust blow on the engine and warmed it up. didnt have any problems after that. I only noticed the cold when going down the trail.

Frost Nip

Had my first experience with Frost Bite/Nip last Sunday night. Rode down from the top of tower just after sunset. About 8 trail miles. Anyway it was the first time I had my flesh frozen, it was like 1/2 inch deep.

Temp wasn't sub zero but close too it - was a result of wind and exposed skin.

I'll always cover up better from know on-

Peace Out & Be Safe,

Johnny

Coldest I have ridden in is -22F, and It was a road ride 60mph+ non stop for about an hour each way.

Regularly ride at -40C. Then, add the wind, and blowing snow..... I actually really enjoy riding in the cold. We ride lots at night, and when you add the cold, it's great. As long as nothing breaks.....
