How 'bout them snowies?

I shoveled out 5 inches of fresh here in town this morning. Sounds like the mountain got pounded. Wind is blowing, but we're not planning a blizzard party....yet:D

aint that the way. we went out last weekend. i'd be in divorce court if i went back so soon.

oh well, maybe see ya next week friendly.

How bad is the wind up in the mountains right now?

I came down lat night for the avy class and it was just stupid rediculous how bad the wind was blowing on the way down 487 from casper .... It was worse than I'd ever seen it :(

Forecast says 15-20mph. I can still see the mountain so it isn't too awful. Nothing like yesterday, but the gusts are still a little rough.

Went up Yesterday and it was sweet...The snow was comin down hard, but who can complain about that. It is Blowin pretty hard here in Saratoga, but it has let up a little in the last couple of hours. The mountain is in great shape, at least on the Saratoga side...........

It really does look like his head, hat and all.

But

do you know where boob hill is:D

Boob hill is that the hill on the west side of the Albany parking lot where all the "cool" guys hill climb, but the rest of the parking lot thinks they are a bunch of BOOBS? what did i win? and it better not be a damn cookie!

You STILL pizzed about those wonderful cookies??
You could always use them for traction, sort of like ice spikes.:p

Keystone and snowy mountain lodge cams show it is snowing like crazy.
Looks like they are getting pounded. YEA

Looks great out there right now. Snow all morning and French Creek snotel showing 20" in the last five days, not counting today. Gonna be amazing tomorrow with a soft 20 mph wind. Ha, thats like a light breeze out there. Headed that way in about 2 hours.

Is there a base now or do you sink to the bottom still? Cant wait to go out agian it sounds great you guys are lucky.

Absolutely insane today. Snow over the windshields. Hard to keep vents open to keep sleds running well. Should be armpit deep tomorrow and not supposed to be as windy, but we're heading home. :face-icon-small-sad

Armpit deep without a doubt! Albany was packed, even boobs on boob hill, aka parking lot posers. in your face over the windshield powder all day!

OMFG!!!!!
The snow was INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!
Had to keep stopping. The snow was packing in around the helmet and goggles to the point you couldn't see. You couldn't swipe it off fast enough.

We tried to get up this narrow windy backcountry trail to get to some large bowls. Yea, not so much. Made for one of the worst stucks I have had in 2 years. Ended up flipping 2 sleds end for end to get back out and go around.

Decided to hit the trails and go in the back way. Takes longer, lots more trails to run, but you can get to the bowls going down hill.
They didn't groom the trails. There was 2'+ of snow on the trails and no-one had been down them. I have never had so much fun riding down the trails in my life. WFO, pulling maybe 20mph landspeed, track doing 60. Did this for over 9 miles.

Got to the back side and put the sled in a hole. Well, I thought it was a hole. It wasn't. It was armpit deep snow that went on for miles. I got stuck going downhill. THe snow was so deep it was packing over the windshield and pushing the riders off the back.

I LOVED IT!
I'll get some picks up soon. DIdn't get too many. Spent most of the day just full throttle blasting thru the snow.

argh ... man maybe I should have just rode my spare sled ...

Ah well maybe next time :(

Heres a couple pics.

This was taken on a Main trail. I could ride these kinds of trails all day long.

Hows this for stuck.

Amazing powder today, wound up having to come back because of sled issues on me side of things. All the powder we rode was hood depth easily, and all of it was within 3/4 of a mile of the main trails. Amazing how people ride right by the good stuff to get to "the riding spot."

Anyway, this jump didn't work out the way my riding partner planned. :beer;

Took a while to dig it out, thankfully we both had shovels with us. Sorry for crap quality, its a cellphone pic.ß
