How 'bout them snowies?

I hate you. Just kidding.

Yeah, one of us HAD to be back to work on Tuesday, so we had to leave. I'm glad someone enjoyed it.

Supposed to get another 14-25 inches by saturday.

that on top of what they just got, should be awsome.

But do you think the forest service opened the gates? Oh no what do we do? do you think we can boondock around them?

2 more hours of work and then its the quick 10 hour drive up. Will be riding our of the Albany area for the next 2 weeks!

it just makes the lot harder to clean if there are alot of trailers in it. plus i dont think i would like to leave upwards of $20,000 unattended overnight.

ok, let me start by saying............
Sorry.
I get PM's from first time snowies riders and some people that want to try a different area. They see some of the pics of the meadows and stuff around albany that I post and ask how to get to em.

If the answer I give sound bogus or like I am trying to feed you a line of BS it's really not. The area around Albany is very wooded. Giving directions can be rather difficult.

How do you explain to someone that they go down trail "C" till you the second thinning past the main north routes. Look for the mound or rocks that are now just a pile of snow and turn left.
or
Go to the backside of Rob Roy and look for the tree that looks like Abriham lincolns head and turn right, about a 100' of tight tree running it will open up into a ravine.

Those are actual directions if your interested.
There is some fantastic tree running and meadow hopping all around albany it is just difficult to explain how to get to it. So if I send a reply that sounds like I am trying to "not" answer the question, it's the best answer you will prob. get.

If you want some really confusing directions that will take a while to tell, there is a HUGE meadow that we have always found untouched powder in. We call it 2 tree meadow. Takes 3 hours of tree running one way to get to, but it is very well worth it.

I will be glad to give you some general directions and areas to look into, but I prob. can't give you exact directions because what looks like a toilet seat to me may look completely different to you (yea, we use inventive natural markers, ya otta see boob hill).

What Ollie said is true, we believe that if your ski’s fit between the trees, that is a trail. We have found some really cool $hit from just tree running, that hill climb over on Libby was a great one, but I have no clue how to get there again. Or Indian meadow where is that again? All you have to do is pull off the trail and point through the trees.

Well heres some pics from around the albany area.

They keep dropping the temps for this weekend.
On monday they were saying it was going to be 24 for a high.
now they are saying 14.
Oh well. At least it's supposed to continue to snow.

As long as it's warmer than the last time we were up there!

The Friday morning after Christmas it was -15 right before the sun came up. We went through quite a bit of firewood during that stay!

Ollie - The riding around Albany sucks. All the good stuff is on the back side of the peaks, I don't know how many times we have to tell you.......

Is there an online version on the snowies trail system? If so please post link or PM it to me..

Thanks

By the way, can you leave your trailer there overnight? :confused:I've seen it done and we've done it before also, but not for sure.... ( I think they frown on it:()

This was one of the main reasons that they are reviewing the parking situation. I was told this by the ranger at the ATV public meetings.

Aw, come on. It has been stated for quite some time that only trail riders and flatlanders ride out of albany:D Everyone knows that.

It is also someplace us bad riders can feel good about ourselves.;)

All the good riders go north.

I shoveled out 5 inches of fresh here in town this morning. Sounds like the mountain got pounded. Wind is blowing, but we're not planning a blizzard party....yet:D
