Help me find a good sled by next weds PLEASE!!

:face-icon-small-sadI went and looked at a summit 1k at Vickery today and had about the worst experience I could have asked for from a dealer. Planned to buy it but was really mislead and they refused to show me the history on the sled so I am still looking.

What I want.

Something rider froward 800cc or bigger preferred; NOTHING under 700. I am not a Polaris fan but could maybe be convinced. I would prefer to stay around 4500 but could go as high as 5k IF the deal was in my favor book wise.

Helo me out I was hoping to have a new sled before next weds...I want it to be in colorado since I really dont want to be headed to Idaho for a sled.

Thanks for the help.

hahah, another bad experience from vickery... that makes two of us.

Might check out Xtreme in castle rock... or hit up craigslist...

If I would have been alone I would have laid into the guy but since he made an *** out of himself in front of another customer I thought it was well enough.

I have hit craigs non stop most the revs are a bit beat that I have seen. Not sure waht else to look at in my price range. Any help is appreciated.

I've got an 06 Polaris RMK 900 166" that has about 1500 miles on it.
Has Powder pro skis and timbersled intake.

I got an XP and my girlfriend has been riding it for the last two seasons. It is way to much sled for her. I'd like to get her a 144" 600.

Its sitting in my trailer at Denver airport right now. We are heading up to Steamboat tomorrow and Irwin, Wolfcreek next week.

Just got tuned up for the season, new plugs, chaincase oil, etc...

who down at vickery where you working with? Just curious... Vickery doesn't do much with sleds... Most their sales/tech guys don't know jack about sleds. Good place to get parts...

You may want to venture out of the city to find some used sleds. PowerWorld (ski-doo's and artic cats) in Grandby has quite a few used as does Spirit Lake Polaris in Grand Lake. If you looking for a yami you might check out Mtn Tech in Nathrop...

Vickery has one guy who is top notch, IMO. Only ever dealt with him so I can't really speak for any of their other guys. Had great luck with Xtreme as well. Never bought a used sled from any dealer - they always want too much $$ for it.

Sled Hunter

I have dealt with Vickery for years and yes sleds are not the primary source of business but they are good honest dealer. I have had good luck with Xtreme as well, they have just have grown so much you don't get the service you us to get. On your sled need I just purchased a new XP Ski Doo and am going to sell my 04 Rev with 1600 miles on it and it is like new. Has all the 440 braces added and is ready to go. I won’t be home till Friday though 720 530 1085

Check out "price reduced" Vector on Swapmeet

Check out Swapmeet, a few pages down there's a 2006 Yamaha Vector for around $5k. Title says "price reduced" so you can search for it. Looks pretty nice. Guy has it in Laramie, so not too far from Colorado. Good mountain sled but also fine for trails. It would be a 1000cc, so sounds like what you want. Can't fail with a Yamaha!

Thanks guys I am calling on the one at Felker. I dealt with Andy at Vickery, and did leave a message for the manager so we will see if I get a call. As for the vector, I just think that sled is over weight and underpowered but maybe I am wrong. I will continue the search and update if I find something. Thanks again!

Craigslist? E- Bay? When you search craigslist there are lots of random stuff you can put in and get diff. results. When I was looking I put in Polaris, RMK, Snowmobile, Snowmobiles, And Sled. All of which gave me a few diff things. Good luck!

We have bought two sleds in the last two years. One from Power World in Granby and then another one from G-Force. We have great experiences with both. Wish you the best of luck.

I must agree on Vickery - they seemed very ho-hum about selling a sled. I have been very happy with Xtreme in Castle Rock. They don't have much time for tire kickers, but if you are a serious buyer and want good service after the sale - they are good.

Also, though I have never bought a sled from them, Maverick motorsports in Laramie has some tough to beat pricing on new and used sleds.

Wow, this is the first Ive heard Vickery getting bashed. I bought my apex there in 07 and still go in almost weekly for parts and other stuff. I had a great experience there. I think andy is the motocross guy (not positive), but Brent sold me my sled last year and the entire time he answered all my questions, even though he was a ski doo guy. Hes even invited me on rides with a few guys from the shop.

I was actually in there just before xmas and he showed me a turbo nytro they had just finished and it got my head spinning with thoughts of a little turbo my my apex... :)

was the summit 1k the yellow one they had out front? I just glanced at it, but it looked in pretty good shape. What were they going to sell it to you for?

good luck.

Sled Available

Hi there,
A good friend of mine has a 2005 M7 for sale. I think he wants about $5k for it. He's in his 50's and it isn't abused. I ride a REV 800 and it goes about anywhere mine goes. For reference, we ride the Snowies and Taylor Park more than anywhere else. You can call Steve on his cell at 720-331-3025.

As far as Vickery goes, that's where I've shopped for a long time. If you want the issue corrected, call Bill Vickery (he's there all the time) and let him know what happened. I'll virtually guarantee that he'll make it right - he's a really straight shooter.

Good Luck!

Complain and maybe get a deal

Your right on wanting a rev just changed over last year won't go back to yamaha till they go on a diet......As for Vickery I've bought 10+ sleds from them over the last 12 years, 5 new, still have 4....Keith is the Sled guy in service, talk to him sometime about sleds he knows his %#*& !!!....Finding a rev in your price range in decent condition is tough Ive been looking for one also for the wife.....I would go back and talk to Brent, Bill or Chuck and make sure they knew about your previous experience. I'm sure they would take care of you and maybe get the sled for a good deal........I buy from Brent he has been there forever and I think he is the sales manager...... Bill's the Owner....and I think Chuck is the Overall Manager.

No bashing here, I am the same way.. I deal with Bill, Brent and Tommy and never have an issue, get excellent service, it just that the shop isn't a sled head shop like some other shops... MX vibe..

Finding a good REV does seem difficult, I guess I am asking too much for 4k-4600

Maybe I will give them a call on Monday, not really sure just got a bad vibe when I was refused the service records that I requested. I understand that the sled was "gone through" according to them, but I dont understand the attitude when I asked for the records.

As for calling Bill I did leave a message on Friday but have not heard back.

Is the A Arm on the left side being forward about 1/2 inch a real problem? I cked over the inside and other than some plastic repair I didnt see any damage to the bulkhead. Just not sure, it seemed shady when I had called and asked if there was any damage and was told no and then there was obvious plastic damage and no one could tell me if there were pod filters on the sled, nor was I offered any help in getting to that point on my own to see. And it didnt have electric start like I was told on the phone.

When I spoke to the guy I came back in after going outside and thinking a bit and asked is that your bottom dollar. (Andy) I was then told that they just bluebooked it and that it was way under book etc. I then asked why I was not alerted of the damage on the side of the sled, and he stated that he considered it "minor". I didnt ask if it had major or minor damage, I asked if it had damage period. Then I was told that for that price I cant expect a new sled. I attempted to explain that there were 3 on craigs list as well as 2 that I could have had shipped from Idaho to meet or beat the same price. And he said well then you can feel free to go and explore your options with more attitude.

What pissed me off most was I spoke to them on the phone. I had a deal set on an identical 05 with all updates and 278 yes 278 miles for 4685 shipped to me from Idaho with a cover. Only difference was that one didnt have an aftermarket can. I told him this on the phone but stated I would rather keep the money in the local economy, and I was told they would take great care of me and earn my business. So on his description of the sled I passed on the one in Idaho and put this one at the front of the line. I would have had that sled here already...

What I got was an offer of price near identical maybe a pinch higher for a sled that was not in the described condition. And it didnt include a cover or the electric start. I had the cash in hand ready to buy, and a trailer with an open slot, I could have paid their price but after refusal of records, refusal to do a compression test, and refusal to verify the pod filters, along with the attitude I had enough.

So I guess my search continues.

If anyone has a REV let me know, I think I will pass on the M7 I do appreciate it but I really want something bigger.
