ive got a buddy that has a 09 m8 pg OVS turbo on his sled and he was testing the fuel pump so he unplugged one of the power outlets off the ccu checking for fuel pump power.and the acc plug was zip tied to the 3 wire plug and the sled died thats when the fun began he lost the ecu replaced that it ran in the shop for a few minutes and died and now wont start replaced the stator. And and its got fuel pressure on the first pull but no spark new stator new ecu and he sent it to a dealer and it was put on another sled and it ran that sled does anyone have any ideas what it could be any help would be appreciated.next option :kev::laser:

Sounds like it could possibly be something wrong in the wireing harness. My buddies sled did the same thing as your friends. Put a new harness i and bingo. We looked at his old harness and couldnt visably see anything wrong wit it. Not saying go buy a new harness but its a possability.

Unplug everything going to the handle bars, and brake light to eliminate that part. If the injector wires ground out anywhere it will cut spark, (not sure why) but have seen some ground on the heat shield and still give fuel but no spark. Test coils, test ccu or swap it out to another sled. If that doesn't do it I would be looking at a wiring harness. How many miles on the sled

Was it running?

So was the sled running before he started probing the ECU harness? Are there any fuses blown? Why was he checking for pump signal if it was running?

Yes it was running it has 2 fuel pumps whe. U turbo an 09 or up u have to buy a new ccu from cat and it has acc connecter on it when he pulled the acc plug the other white plug came unplugged as well and it popped the ecu replaced ecu ran for 5 min sled died and thats where its at

Check your ground.
Then trace it down to the middle of the harness and ground it out again.

Are u talkin about where they soldered it together?we found what looks like a diode right close to the throttle body going to the tps i believe

you said it has fuel but are the injectors firing, put a test light on the wires and see if its pulsing, just to eliminate it as a factor.

I dont know.as of now were gonna try swapping my 08 ecu and just ck for spark and go from there i guess then a rag in the tank or tow it to the top of the mountain just kiddin ill let u know what i find out.if there are any other ideas were accepting them.and does anyone know what the bulge in the wire going to the tps is for?thanks for info

On the other sled unplug the tps and see if it starts, that will tell you if it could even make a difference. With new plugs and no spark I would start tracing it back from there, plug caps, wires, coils, signal and power to coils, somewhere in that checking it should tell you something.

Ipower is coming out of the stator and not making it to the coil pack.

194 bulb

Use a 194 bulb to check for node. Take the bulb and pull the metal wires down so you can probe the injector harness. Place the bulb into the harness and pull the sled over. If it flashes you have injector pulse, if it doesn't you have to find out why.

Maybe you already checked this...

Does the throttle cable have slack? I spend an hour once trying to start my 09 M8 with no spark. The throttle cable was tight causing the safty switch in the flipper to kill the ignition.

Sometimes its the easy things....

Well we put my ecu on it and now its got spark so next question since its the third ecu and the last only lasted 5 min u think the ccu is shot as well?

?????

Ok you fried an ecu? Did you check the first one on a different sled to confirm it was fried?
About the only thing that will fry an ecu is a short. Or no ground.

This will be the 3rd ecu.the first one went out when the CCU got unplugged the 2 nd one ran for 5 min and the sled died then he borrowed mine last night he did not try to start it he just pulled it over and had spark
