Helmet cam footage of burial and rescue in Alaska

check out this video from a skier that triggered an avy in Alaska, was buried and rescued...all captured with his helmet cam!! I've read many stories and watched other similar footage, but nothing compares to this!!

Unreal...

We have a good solid group of 6, and only 3 use avalanche equipment. the other three say it'll never happen to them.

At least I know there are two of them who have my back...

You need to find new guys to ride with then, those other three that aren't using avalanche equipment are endangering you just as much as themselves because if you get buried that means there are only 2 out of 5 people that can help you. What if the three with beacons get buried? then what?

That video should be required viewing for anybody headed into the backcountry. Particularly, those without proper gear.

I found it hard to breath watching this vid....they should show this at all avy training courses. Definately a deadman without properly trained buddies.Very good post !!!

Definately a must watch. Its hard to describe being buried, this about somes it up. Other than going down and skis this is about it. For sure a life changing experience.

To anyone you have ever met who has ever thought about skiing, hiking, or snowmobiling in the mountains, pass this vid on.

Note: having the gear and training is no guarantee...there is no way to be 100% sure, unless you're in Iowa--not aware of avalanches in Iowa. No kidding though, take the mountains seriously and practice safe habits.

If the snow talks, listen!!

Wow Incredible, tears in my eyes watching that one. Imaging the massive sence of panic that you would be fighting. I cant see anyone experiencing that one without doing business with God.
