Headed up to ride the new XM.

I was really sceptical until I saw that recent video from Ski-Doo guys. Looks like it pulls over much easier than the XP. Could be a strong sled.

OK guys I am prolly going to get slammed for this post but here goes. The new XM out Pros the Pro. By that I mean all the stuff I like about my Pro are easier to do on the new XM. We rode an area called Gold Creek in Washington state today. It was 2 plus feet of snow, pretty dry for us but not Utah powder by any means. It is pretty steep and varies from old growth timber to clear cuts. The XM rolls over really easy. Sidehilling most of the time you can keep both feet in your standard riding position. Just foot pressure, counter steer and a little throttle. If you are wrong foot forward you can put pressure on your back foot and it goes up the hill, pressure with your front foot and it goes down, even and it just cuts across. I really was just looking for a path through the trees and the sled would follow my eyes. It is that good. Also, the visibility was really bad, near white out conditions. I was slamming my way through some wind ridges and even when my momentum was gone it would not trench out. As the track would drop through the snow it would just hook up and pop me back to the surface. I think the track edges are digging in to the sides of the trench for traction too. Kind of like the side lugs on mud tires. I like the small seat. It starts really easy. The pull seems less than the ETECs I have ridden. More like a Pro which I think pulls way easier than an ETEC. Didn't do any really long hill climbs but pulled some steep ones really easy. Nose pops up less than a foot off the snow, great track speed for the conditions. Again, my Pro also worked great today. Man that thing is easy to ride in the deep snow. My stock clutching is perfect for the riding we are doing, it sure feels like it has more power than the internet experts say. But, and I hate to post this in the Pro section, the XM did things I can't do very well on my Pro better and it did every thing with a lot less effort. It also has more power and this sled was BRAND NEW so is in break in mode and will gain a little pop. Dealer said the sled was a Prototype but the fit and finish was great, every thing worked and the sled looked like a production piece.

Good for them hopefully it pans out to be something good because they need it. Hopefully they have actually addressed and fixed the issues with the xp. After having an 07 doo and two xp's i have no faith in BRP to produce a quality product let alone a first year sled, but hopefully that has changed. We pay enough for these new sleds i hate to see people having troubles and not riding

Sent from my Atrix when i should be sledding

There is absolutely no reason to slam this post! The ones that need to be slammed are the speculation posts in the (not impressed) thread. To me someones opinion that has not thrown a leg over the sled isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

To me it's simple, if I ride one and I feel it performs better than the Pro that is the sled I want to be on. Brand doesn't matter to me, just put me on the best sled out there. At this point the Pro is THAT sled. If I ride the XM and it feels better, then audios Polaris!

No one should slam your post, well I am sure the brand loyal stupid person will. Sounds like Doo has a winner. I have ridden my buddy's 09 XP Summit, and I can't stand it, way too much effort to make it do what I want it to do, unless we are in a foot or more of fresh. Heading to Togwotee Friday, can't wait to ride my new Pro RMK out there.

good reveiw matt..did you guys get it on any steep stuff that wasnt 2 foot of pow?...the harder/shallower depths on the steep stuff is where the xp always gave me fits..they all handle like a dream in deep snow...great reveiw, definately want to hang a leg over one....

I hate these kind of reviews, cause they tend to be expensive for me. Nice to hear it from a current pro rider. Only problem is I will have to listen to blowmobiler and fred(ibleeddoo)w quoting every last thing from your review on every negative post. Good job to BRP. Cant wait to ride one.

Glad to hear a genuine review, I really want to ride one. I still don't like the way Doo's look, and I HATE the XP, but it they work as well as they are supposed to it will only do good for the sport.

Good review and glad to hear you liked the new XM. Not surprised you think it outperforms the Pro tho, since you have the same thread going in the SkiDoo section saying you like your 2012 Freeride better than your 2012 Pro to begin with. Whats nice is that you own both sleds and can compare them for YOUR riding style, unlike other brand loyal folks who compare based on opinion alone. I am glad to see Doo make some big advancements that will continue to push the other manufacturers.

The xp didn't struggle that much in deep snow. It was in the shallow snow depth where it struggle. I'd like to see a none biased review in those conditions. And the 13' pro is going to be way better than the 12' so you're gonna have to compare 13' to 13'

Good review, Matte. I, as well as many, am looking forward to riding the XM. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you have already stated in other posts that you prefer the XP's you have over your Pro and like anyone else, this could influence your opinions on the XM. I am looking forward to a review from one of the guys that has just a Pro and loves it. Will these guys love the XM enough to jump to Doo ?

Well I'm also looking forward to trying one, cause if I like it I'm buying it. The difference is , political correctness be damned, you have been quite vocal about letting us know you like your 12 doo freeride much better than your Pro, so did you expect the XM would be worse, di you have doubt, cause being really honest, none of us had many doubts as to what your opinion would be. Glad you like it, enjoy it.
