I didn't get my first post right i am having my surgery the 10th of November( dam norcos) i am have a bit of nerve damage in my right foot.I have been off work since the 17 of oct and i am just now feeling a little better.I am planning on going to the PT joining a local gym that has a indoor pool tto swim during the winter
So, u only saw one neurosurgeon before committing? Hope everything went well.
I smushed my L5 vertebra in June '07, wore a clamshell for two months then saw 2 more experts. One figured that the L5 would fuse itself to the S1 but it didn't. I did ride gingerly by Dec '07 but I was pretty careful. My own PT got me stable and back riding moto and sled the following year.
BTW, the "nerve damage" in your foot might be due to a ding on your spinal cord that got into your L4 or L5 nerve. I still have a numb spot on the ball of my left foot due to a ding on my L5 nerve.
Good luck, get your core shaped up and ride smart.
