Got the FST hood installed...just to try something different...still need to run the headlight wiring...i might go with a switch so i can toggle between the Headlight and the Boondockers resistor...incase i switch hoods weekly, lol..

i also made some of my own venting...on the dash where the stock foam intake covers were..i dont want to buy SLP ones for $41, so i used some screen and silicone..double layed...its surprisingly quite strong...we will see if it holds up..

also wanted to keep my gauges on my bars..another option it gives me if i wanna change hoods quickly...plus i plant to get an AEM A/F gauge and Koso Dual EGTs eventaully, so i blocked off the stock gauges are with some .025" aluminum and...go figure...powder coated it black, lol...and when i get the gauges i will install them on the plate...if i go back to the IQR hood...i will have to come up with another option at that point...lol..

Sean Saweet setup with the hood. I have also thought about doing the same with a fst hood.

hey bud.
yeh the FST hood is pretty slick, i like the look and its a change for now...lol..

but for any one thinking of doing the FST hood..the hood screens have a small tab that has a rivot on it and that part hits the pipe...so i had to cut it off and plastic weld the screen on...it still has 1 rivot it as well on each one that doesnt touch anything..

and the center of the hood comes VERY close to the pipe, so make sure its heat taped, but with the amount or airflow..i dont think it would be an issue...just need to cover all the front slits and the holes in the front grills, they are HUGE, lol...

Have an FST hood on my '08 as well, doesn't look as good as your's though. An chit, it is still broke down. At least I have the '07 to keep me going.

Those wheels are hot, really pops against your black tunnel Sean. Every time you break your sled it gets prettier.
POLZINHUNTER your products look top shelf. Let me know if you ever decide to make an 06 chain case cover :face-icon-small-win

Dan I will have one by next season for sure! Hell I dont even have one for my own sled! there will be many more things to come
thanks for the comments guys..

i love the work that Kreg puts out..and no matter what i have asked him to do for me....the final product is ALWAYS BETTER then my orginal exspectations..

if you have an idea of something you need, or wanna that custom product on your sled..drop kreg a PM...you will be shocked and pleased how perfect everything is..

i love you kreg.........i mean..i meant to say....i love you ;) LOL

Ok ! I used the smaller bearings in those wheels for weight savings. Uppers and rears get the larger bearing for sure. it will be a while I am going to move my shop soon so that will keep me busy for a few weeks or so.

Why did you swap hoods? I like the mountain fit one alot more!

I love the IQR hood as well, just swap the hoods out when i go out of town to places i havent been incase i need a headlight...its super easy to switch out since i left the gauges on the bars and only ran wires for the headlights that are plug-n-play

thanks for the complients though ;)

IC! I liked the IQR hood!! Looked cool!:face-icon-small-hap

Just thought i would TTT when my sled was nice and pretty...

and yep..i have wrecked it...at least 3x...is that a surprise

p.s. i am back to the IQR hood...the damn FST hood let too much junk in and it was all nasty under the hood

this BAD BOY sled has been excellent all season, even with the amount of abuse i have put it through..and all the trees, lol...

only had 1 issue with a bad ground, that i can remember right now..

and it will have a Carls 975 Big Bore in it this summer...yeh like i need that..or do i? ;)

will also try and get the skid rails powder coated if i can get the time...going in for ACL surgery on may 3rd..so will be a chitty summer....

well done riding for the year...didnt break too much stuff on her, except for some front end plastic..and my EGO..lol...

tell you what...them damn trees, they get me everytime..lol...

just had my ACL surgery yesterday, so as soon as i can get back up and going w/o many issues...i will start the 975 BB install and do some other odds and ends like a timbersled fixed steering post, anti-rachet drives, anti-stab kit, few more vents, repair gauges, new left fender, EGT/AF gauges, new torsion springs, powder coat skid rails...

and then eventually try and get some custom made wide running boards..hoping that F-BOMB comes through on these..he might be making them for the 700/900s this summer...fingers crossed..

had the crank runout checked this morning by the local dealer since i had the motor out anyways...

crank is 3 years old...

runout at farthest point from the cases was .0035mm", and closest point to crank seal was .003mm"

polaris specs on runout is .004" max..so i am still within range...

still got some time on her before i need a rebuild, but not long...this is why primary clutch balancing is SOOOOOOOOO important...along with Compfusion front motor mounts and perfect rear mounts!!

Hey Buddy! Handlebars are shipped! Good luck with them. Should have computer by weeks end. As to your crank run out. Couldn't they true that up for you for a few bucks? BTW the .0035" measurement they gave you should be in inches not mm. That would be over .100 inches out of true. Lot's of vibrations!!!!

I'll get in touch with you Friday.

Jeff

LOL...yes sir you are correct, that "mm" was my bad...was in a hurry, i had to meet the wife for lunch, lol..

they wont true anything here..its WAY over their scope of work...and truing it like that doesnt solve many issues..its still "wearing out" i would assume..it would be hiding the inevitable i would think??? who knows..i no engine guru by any means, haha..

thanks for everything..

Sean,

One thing to watch out for on the FST hood...With the SLP pipe, no insulation around it, you can chill the pipe and cause performance/runability issues as the snow melts on the pipe....

Cold pipes stumble.

BTW... I ran the FST hood for a while... still have it hanging in the rafters... good looking hoods!

you bet eric..

i am no longer running that hood...i used it for a while after i ran into that M1000 :( and broke a piece off my IQR mod hood..but i fixed that IQR hood and use that again...

the FST hood looked great, but i could never keep crap out of the engine area...ended up rusting my SLP pipe pretty good...and it was a PINA to keep mesh over the center louvers so i only use it now if i break another hood...which will most likely happen again...lol
