Grinding power valves on XP ?

Hey Teth Air
I was looking at power valve part numbers from the 07,08,09 and I think there were 3 parts that were different from the 07's to present. Just wondering if anyone knows why. Have heard the 08 and 09's don't make as much power as the 07's did.Wonder if the power valves have any effect on that.

Did not know that there was any difference in the top end of these year motors. Also I've heard that they all make the same power? The mapping could be different from the ecm as the 08 and 09 does seem to get better fuel economy, maybe the weight is somewhat a factor? I'm sure some of the motor guys would know, I hope they will let us know.

Can anybody confirm al is shaving .200 thou off. That sounds like alot to me (between 3/16" and 1/4") Is he doing both top and bottom or just one of the two. Thinking about building some spacers to try out.

the reason i began to look at the shaving of the power valves came after asking the doo peopole if they could change the opening by reprogramming the opening rpm.
answer was yes and only as early as 5800.
same rpm the series 3 motor opened and there is a big difference in how the two pull in the midrange.
when you look at the series 3 exhaust opening you can see the boost ports are not plugged off and the exhaust opening with the guilletines closed has a 30mm opening.
a comparision to the r exhaust port shows the boost ports completely blocked off and the main exhaust port opening now at 25mm.
why i asks . doesnt really matter but allows them some sound advantage in sensitive areas .a big issue ,today
with out the flow the pipe comes to pressure latter
with it , it begins to work sooner and produces a stronger intake signal , which inturns is felt at the throttle as a engine coming to life sooner .

yes you could open it to soon , but following what doo has done previously seemed to be all we were interested in.

had done it to theh point of seeing what was to much.

first thing i tried was pulling the two round barrels out and seeing how it liked that , it didnt , hahaha ya have to push it both ways to see i say , in order to find the middle ground.

reason why i stopped at 200 ths . , gave enough of a noticable difference with out any issues . making a stronger vaccum signal , when working with 2 strokes is what we mainily try to achieve in order to make power.
were it was missing on the r motor was mid range .
is easier to clutch when they are stronger and have a longer power curve to work with .
hadnt been saying anything about this but some one on here blabbed about one i did for them , told them it was just experimental , you know how it goes .

07 rave valves are made of a lot softer material and they changed what the 08 was made of and so it is why they have different numbers .07 ones were breaking. can really hear the difference when cutting them on the mill.

Has anyone tried to make that spacer to achieve the same thing as grinding? Or is it not the same thing, thinking bout that you open up the boostports aswell if you lift up the hole raveassembly? And also wonder if theres some kind of coating on the valves, how does the grinding affect that if so? Is it just the mainvalve that gets grinded or do you do something with the boostports valves also?
