So I picked up this '05 iq 900 166 with 1703 miles on it for 1400 bucks...It will start and idle but it backfires and stuff when you try to give it throttle..also no instruments...would it start and idle with the ecu fried ?? hoping just the vr it is the cfi:face-icon-small-con

could be a number of things. gauges not working could be bad chassis relay, fryed ecu, possibly tps setting, or broken wire in the tps wiring harness. with it running poorly the tps probably has issues. try taking the throttle bodies off and reseting that first to see if it solves the issue.

Thank you for the reply, dktraw!! From your reply you think that the sled will start and idle even if the ecu is toast??? I have been scouring through as much info on here as I could but havn't found a difinitive call on that question!?!? Thank you again!

yes, the sled will run with a bad ecu. there is a specific polaris 900 forum that has tons of info on these sleds. go over there and check out the stickies at the top of the page. lots of information in those.
