or if your luckily enough to be there on the the 4th wednesday of the month stop in and have a visit with the Drug Endangered Children and Prevention Comittee

One recent study shows that there is so much meth that the price of cocaine has dropped dramatically in the area.

Look like many small towns across America the ridiculously easy and cheap to make meth is on the rise. To deny the problem is not helping. The guy asked about the area and thinking of moving his family there. While the local police have made huge strides in overcoming this epidemic it is still a problem.

There are obviously many great things about Grand Junction which many stated but there or also other things going on that need to be mentioned.

peace out

oh yeah and it FN hot in the summer!

If that's what it takes to keep you from tracking up my pow, then believe what you want dizzle shizzle tizzle. You're the one who's high!

The problem isn't a damn bit worse here than any other city in the mid-west/west. It's bad in all of 'em.

As for me, I'll keep enjoying "heaven on earth" as SSWIM so elequently put it.:D:beer;

As a recent transplant to the area I would like to give my impression. I came here from Steamboat. I saw a far greater drug and drinking problem ,per capita, in the boat, Hayden and Craig. Stay away from Clifton and the rest of Junction is quite nice. Hot in the summer, well yes, but check the stats on >100degree days and compare them to the front range. Thinking about your childrens health? Compare air quality with the front range. Let's not mention the drive to the mountains from the front range.
Into OHV's? Let's see. hmmm ..Rampart..Moab..tough choice ...
Cost of living is still reasonably affordable. Strong economy even in this shakey political climate.
What does the front range have that Junction does'nt? Well, traffic, smog, violent crime, tree huggers, lousy weather year round, a bunch of malls and a couple of museums. Sounds like a far better place to raise children.
Well I'm off to do some world class dirt biking right out of my garage. It sucks to live here.
BTW Buff pass is a short 3 hours from here.

GJ & Wasilla? GJ Sentinel says...

No need to believe my take...

http://www.gjsentinel.com/news/content/news/stories/2008/10/17/101808_1a_Palin_info.html

<<Harrison said she and her husband moved to Grand Junction three months ago. She said she used to work in Meth counciling, and her husband owned a copper recycling operations in Wasilla’s industrial side.

Having lived in Wasilla and Grand Junction, Harrison said the two communities are similar. She said both communities rely on the experienced chemists and have a rural character.>>

well then...at least their experienced... haha ok, mb not a joking matter... >.<
honestly, there are what some would call, "horror stories", back in MN and IA as well.
you can and prob will find it anywhere, if you dig deep enough.

Welcome to GJ, steamboat-RN!!

Look forward to seeing you on the Mesa, or in the desert.
PM me and enjoy the valley!

Ray
Thanks Ray!

I was thinking about this thread while I was riding (55 miles of primo single track!!) and it really started to bother me.
Sure there is a meth problem here. There is a meth problem EVERYWHERE. But to label this area as a haven for drugs is just wrong. The reason there are a number of centers is more a function of geography. We are the largest metropolitan center on the western slope. We service clients from a large geographic area that includes much of Western Co and Eastern Utah. We have a major trauma center here too and it is always busy. I suppose that that makes us all accident prone as well.
The guy is looking for a place to grow a business and raise a family. Where on the front range is growing faster than here or safer than here?
The fact that this place is surrounded by world class outdoor recreation is just icing on the cake.

Now if I can just decide wether to ride Moab, the Mesa, or the Swell tommorow. Maybe I'll just hit the links. Or I guess I could get in another day of kayaking.
Sheesh, if I just lived in Denver I would'nt have all these problems.

Dont forget the FRUIT! best in the state. Being from the southern front range Im in love with junction, single tracks for days! , and bigger fields of pow then i ever seen anywhere else, on the mesa. every time i make the trip out we meet kool people and its just great. cant wait to move myself in a few years!

GO JUNK TOWN WHHOOAA!!

Spun junction!

I am native here, as are my parents and grand parents, and my daughter! I have been riding the desert and the mesa my whole life. LOVE IT, but the more and more people that come here the less and less fun it is! I would stick to you pre concieved notions that this is a meth haven and stay where ever it is that you call home! I very much enjoy being able too boondock and climb shoots all day long and rarely ever see another soul besides our little group. but the parking lot and the trails are getting more and more crowded with trail riding tourists and it is not so enjoyable to dig people out that have no business being there in the first place. as I said before please stick to your pre concieved notions that this place is a horrible trash infested meth haven and tell all your friends also! Thanks! and good luck with your riding in your wonderful spots!

Keep you nose out of the fresh powder

1 post about meth town. no way every where you go someone is in the closet with this meth yes its bad and if they are using and ridin sled they wont be for long..... sell the sled or itching...... to ride.....
they will be looking back to see if the
Abominable Snowman is chasing him bawwwwwaawwww
This is the name given to the large ape like creature, which is said to walk on two feet and be human like in appearance in the Himalayas where there have been reported sightings. It is also known as the Sasquatch in Canada and Bigfoot in America. The same description of this type of creature as been referred to in ancient times for E.g. in Greek mythology and in the Russian leshiy. The alleged evidence that have been gathered like photographs and footprints remain uncertain if they are the truth. And as no conclusive evidence as been found skeptics doubt that it exists. Also it is said that most sightings are mistaken identity as most are taken in remote parts of the world at a distance

OK Ray, now you've let the cat out of the bag. Fess up-- those pics were really taken a long way from here. Nothing like that here in the desert. Right. No reason to sled around here.
Great Pics!!

Ironic that Obama had his rally in Clifton. Worst part of town by far.
