I may have a potential business opportunity in GJ. Anyone have information on housing, schools, life, and oh yeah ridin spots.

Live in Castle Rock now and would appreciate input.

Grand Mesa, Flat Tops..are the closest.

You'd have some Utah options be viable as well on that side of the state..

Thanks.

Moab = 1.5 hr?
Powell = 4 hr?
forgot about Utah
The Butte 2 hrs?

I may be sold. How do I convince the wife and kids?

Everytime I hear about Grand Junction they are busting another meth lab or dealer...not somewhere I would want to raise a family. :eek:

Hey DeadCat, how was your summer? That Red Ford still running??

GJ is a pretty nice spot. Hot as hell in the summer, but great hub in all four seasons.

Grand Mesa not far ~1hour
Black Meas a hiddin gem ~1.5 hours
you already know about Irwin, but you prolly want to go in on the west side of Kebler

See you this winter

grand mesa, platue, high mesa, kebbler, red mountain, taylor park, flat tops, are all great riding and are all within 2 hrs of GJ. As far as the town goes pretty good not to big not to small lots to do. And its not like compton as tudizzle implies, its just like every other town ya there are your handful of knuckle heads around but for the most part its a great place.

I never implied it was anything like compton?

Do a google search of "Meth Grand Junction CO"

Even the local government and police force admit that meth is a huge problem in the town and that as a result violent crimes are on the rise. If I were going to move hours away from the "big cities" I would much rather choose somewhere that is not effected by big city problems.

Grand Junction is good town. Great place to live if you love the outdoors. It doesn;t have any more problems than any other towns it's size do. It has to be 100,000 people by now when you consider all the little towns right around it. If you move there, you won't be sorry. :beer;

Where? I lived in Utah for several years. The closet place to go would be Soldier Summit (and that's not that great). That is a good 2.5 hours away.

Thanks

Thank you for the input. I am heading up in the morning with the family for a bit of recon. I will drive the grey truck instead of the red so that the crips don't shoot.

Summer was great. Went to Irwin a few weeks back and believe we saw DOOs place. Drank beer and got snowed on. Can't wait for winter. See you at the trailhead.

GJ is the Wasilla or Colorado as far as Meth goes.
Great proximity to desert, mountains, etc..

Some snow stuck - pretty minimal though.
A few people skied the back of Mt.Baldy w/ about a foot of pow.
Looked nice.

MD.

the real GJ story...........

As a resident of GRD JNCT, i feel qualified to comment. Unlike above...
The knucklehead population has decreased greatly due to the awesome DA, PD and SO. I am so proud to live here, and yes if your a liberal democrat you may not approve of the 100's of sq miles of ATV access, rock climbing the monument, hiking&biking everywhere or watercrafting the colorado river.

But if your a hard-working, tax-paying, gun-loving, backcountry enthusiast then GJ is for YOU! If fact, recently rated in top 5 cities best weathering the bad economy.

Tied Austin TX for real estate appreciation for 2008! wahoo!!

Come over in the spring, when we ride the mesa on sleds till mid-afternoon then head back to town-45min- and ride dirt bikes or golf till sunset!

Ray in GJ

You can ride dirt-bikes and ATV in any direction-BLM everywhere!! And the Mesa is PRO-snomachines and not at the mercy of front-range liberals!!

Yep, Ray just about summed it up. But hey, let's keep the stigma of "meth capital". Keep this "Heaven on Earth" to ourselves.

yep, Tizzle's right.

Best places to live are Denver, Lakewood, Saudi Auora, Longtucky, Greasly, or Colo Springs. I lived w/in 15min of all of them over the years, and crime wasn't a problem, neither was traffic:eek:. The front range is awesome! just ask anyone who still lives there.............;)

white dots for all of ya!:D
