Its interesting how the clutch is mounted forward of the motor.

before the snow flies! ya right!

after talking to everyone hawkers, 2-moto and explorer, and spending time on these machines I am going to build a motorcycle posistion(handle bars mounted on top of forks), 2 stroke, CVT, sled suspension single ski. got laid off from my job on return from hawkfest, will give me the time to get a good jump on this project and maybe have it on the snow before it's gone!!!!!!

HAVE:
motor= mxz 440x 92 h.p. (with primary) donated by tony sexton

chassis= steel cr250 donated by darrel aka cyclops (frame soon to be butchered beyond belief) probally just use headtube.

using banshee seat and gas tank and upper section of frame (maybe just for pattern)

triple clamp, forks= 2001 cr250 off my bike will have third triple clamp located lower, made from an aftermarket fork brace.
___________________________________________________________________________________
drivers= stock hawk donated by onewoodsrider(not using due to diamond drive) thanks alot for the help though!
secondary=stock hawk donated by onewoodsrider
___________________________________________________________________________________
track=121" donated by defboy

rear skid= have original expert off 503, will use expert design and machine lighter componets.

bought 09 diamond drive, driveshaft, drivers, brake caliper and rotor off ebay with funding from ryan,(aka poacher) thanks a bunch for the donation ryan, I beleive this will make the project. it will free a ton of space and allow better location options. big thanks to tom at alaska toy rental for the ideas.

NEED:

diamond drive secondary (06 to present) 10.4 inch. (can use pre 06 10" if can't find.) may end up buying new $384, loaded with close to right springs?

brake lever/master off A SNOWMOBILE?

laid off, don't have alot of funding, will fund as much as possible, any parts donations, deals or loner parts would be awesome,(even to just get it going) will post and help with any and all info related to project for your use not out to make money, would like to see a cross between hawk and bike!!!!!! will draw up detailed blueprint when done. I AM LIFE LONG BUDDIES WITH A MINISPRINT FRAME BUILDER HERE IN WA WHO IS WILLING TO DONATE MATERIAL AND ALL THE FINISH WELDING.

as with many of my projects, the hawkbike is no exception! I cannot be a hack! was thinking I could put something together quickly and maybe get it out this season to try it out. no way! I am incapable of taking shortcuts and will go all the way on this project. new timeline= hawkfest, 2010 on the snow tuned and ready for all to try!!!!!!

when I"m not riding them, I'm thinking about riding, or building! having
OCD is the only way to get sh!t done!!!!!

I had thought of putting a linkage on the rear suspension at the bottom of the shocks that would push the shocks from the bottom as the suspension compresses to give it a rising rate. I have a complete wilwood hydraulic brake setup that you can have if needed, came off of a '95 mxzx.

Linkage?

got one on ebay cheap, but thanks!
cool idea with the linkage, curious to see where it leads? falling rate sucks, problem we deal with in the mtn. bike industry.

I dont think the spring rate for a hawk will be the ticket for you. I think you said your running cr250 forks?? The weight bias (front to back) difference from the hawk to what your building has got to be much diff.

I would get it all together and then start looking into suspension spring rates.. You have to know your starting point and without that info you may end up spending unnecessary coin.. or spinning wheels.. just a suggestion..
Cant wait to start ripping apart my Hawk, big changes are a cummin..

hawk springs .54 kg/mm (thanks travis)

don't plan on using hawk rate, just getting all the info together. ever come up with any build info on the 503?

I havent found out much on the 503 yet, Thanks for the contact.
If I dont find anyone with any first hand knowledge Ill do the usual stuff,
shaved head, porting, carbs, ignition curve and Oh yah.. the nitrous off the bansee.. all after getting the ergos set up..I was super impressed with how the hawk handled the woops and jumps, cant wait for more quality seat time..
