i thought the same things about the video it took, looked at the camera in person and it looks like a 5 dollar disposable camera in a nice plastic case. just turned me off to buying it, just did not look worth the money. i went with the Vholdr HD one. JMO

picked up my gopro hd this last weekend. pictures turned out AWESOME, even in and out of the shade with poor lighting and bright sun. the only problem is i dont have a kingston or patriot brand memory card and that is all that will work with the camera to record video! of course it took go pro three days to email me back and tell me this. something about the software and the write speeds? the mounts are awesome and the small size and cheap look that some people dont like doesnt bother me. hopefully i can get a card soon and start shooting some video!

I was extremely happy with the quality of my standard definition motorsports Hero wide, I can't imagine what the HD will look like. Only got to use mine once on the sled, got some awesome footage of me getting my a$$ kicked at the drags.
Overall very happy with my GoPro, very small, easy to use, mounts are wicked, it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. I have read where lithium batteries are supposed to be better in the cold than the rechargeable batteries.

I read reviews, compared prices and spent some time on youtube looking
at what other people footage came out like.
From what I gathered the GoPro Wide angle HD is the absolute best bang for your buck! A friend of mine just picked one up from a dealer for
a good $$$. If you want to invest your money in a nicer system, Vholdr is the definite way to go.
Check out some youtube vids.. dont let the vids that were uploaded with a poor quality format discourage you... heres a couple vids I saved

I have done all that with a helmet camera that gets connected to a video camera.. I got the sound though...
Or the batteries start dieing out (note don't use rechargeable AA batteries as the voltage of them is less) and the video looks all pixelated.
All reasonable possibilities but even so.. know your equipment!
Sure, it might take a few rides to figure out the best mounting positions, how long your batt really lasts and the best ways to upload.. but you cant beat cool POV ridin footage!

Go Pro HD is unreal. The quality of footage is very good. Chest mount is a great perspective. You can shoot in 720p, 960p or 1080p 30fps or 60fps slo-mo in 720p mode. The rechargeable battery is a god send compared to any AA or AAA style battery. It's in a bomber housing that will go down 160ft under water, and has a 170 degree wide angle lens. If your fooling with any other system, your wasting money. I believe in these so much I have a dealership and sell them. I will only ship in Canada though. If your interested in a GoProHD motorsports unit, I will give all my SnoWest brothers and sisters a smokin deal on one.

I just ordered the GoPro HD from REI... I went with it over the vholdr for a few reasons. First, the non-HD go pro takes pretty good video. The image stabilizer works great. Second, I watched a few videos filmed with the vholdr that were bright light conditions and you couldn't see any definition in the snow (it was just white space). Supposedly the new vholder has brightness/contrast adjustment, but you can only adjust it when it is plugged into the computer.
