Getting in shape/help needed

I can offer a lot of advice to you. I started Jan 4 2008 and to date have lost 116 pounds. Eating 6 small meals per day and excercising. 338 to 222 and still losing...
email me maxxlights@aol.com and visit Bill Phillips ( author of Body for Life) new website Transformation.com I'm shane there....

Shane, you have GOT to post those pics! I couldn't believe it.

Any of you that have met Shane before would not recognize him now. I have known him for years and I wouldn't have known him if he walked in my front door. AMAZING DIFFERENCE!

Muscle/Fat

What is all this talk about Muscle weighing more than fat??

Last I checked, a pound of muscle was 16oz and pound of fat was 160z. Has something changed LOL:p

I say give up on yer weight loss, 185 is not a bad weight! Would be easier to enjoy spending some loot and strip 30lbs from yer sled. And go back to enjoying the fast food..............

get a heart rate monitor and make sure your are 80 to 90 percent of max heart rate when you run. depending on your age maintaining 160 to 170 beats per minute for 45 minutes is good. This would not include the time it take to get your heart rate elevated to this level.

3 to 5 miles is barely enough to burn fat and mostly burning carbs/gycogen before you get into fat burning mode. The longer weekend runs sound great.

weight loss sometimes should not be one of your primary objectives if you are looking to get into good physical condition. Good aerobic condition is critical and good strength and endurance is real important too. Trying to lose weight shouldnt happen at the same time you are trying to get strong and in shape.

bottom line in losing weight is to stop putting chit in your month. If you carefully review how many calories you consume through both food and beverage over the course of a day/week/month I bet you would be surprised.

Steam room is a waste of time.

GHF is right....the steam rooms do NOT burn calories unless you're running, doing pushups or pounding away at the excercise bike in there with two layers of sweats on. HAHA. But you're gonna dehydrate more than burn calories in that instance. LOL
