Gates belts

Then way the hell do all the carriers charge me so much? Canada or anything outside the US. Ak, is just very expensive because it is outside the lower 48. Always been that way but all shipping rates have gone up drastically the last couple of years.

The Post Office is the the only economical way to ship anything these days. The privateers are crooks, and often pay the Post Office to do the final delivery anyway. No wonder the charge twice as much, when the pay the Post Office to do their job for them.

Sorry for the rant and the detour. Back to topic!

I just ordered 2 45c belts from amazon, $102ea shipped to the house. Sure beats paying $210 for a polaris belt.

Yeah you may want to double check what belt you actually recieve when they show up. When I typed in 45C4553 into the Amazon search bar it brings up a 44C and nothing else.

We typically price it 3 different ways on bigger heavier objects. ( times out of ten the post office is cheaper for smaller objects and is what we use the mojority of the time. Outside the US Lower 48 we use Postal 99.9% of the time. Post office also has a size and wieight limit on really big items. I have shipped everything from a cork heater insualator to an engine, 155 rear suspension and tracks. On the bigger things USPS is not an option and will end up costing more if it is. Typically fedex is cheapest on the real big stuff.

I agree. Huge or heavy stuff is very expensive. But we're talking about belts. And USPS has what's called flat rate, if it fits it ships. You could stuff a belt in a medium flat rate for around $12. Maybe less. $35 just makes me roll my eyes and makes you guys lose a sale. Not trying to be ride, it's just how it is, at least for me.

If you fold a carbon belt to fit their box, the carbon cords will break. If you fold the carbon belt to fit the AXYS belt carrier the cords will break. If you fold it it will fail very quick.
This is not the belt of old, how you handle this belt determines its longevity.

That is why I said it is better to ask for a quote. My site isn't set up to calculate all the different scenarios at this point and time. Takes a lot of resources and we are just a small Mom and Pop shop. So outside the lower 48 its a crap shoot if it is accurate. It is a flat rate we charge to cover a lot of different products and scenarios. So in this case we can calculate it per customer and only charge you the actual shipping costs. We ship everyday and I am well aware of the flat rate boxes and use them when it is cheaper to do so.

Sorry about that and it sucks to loose the sale especially after paying Thousands of dollars a year to be able to advertise and post items on these fourms. We willl work on getting real time calculations on our site. We were well on our way when our developer went out of business and screwed us in the process.

i placed a preorder for one of these gates belts last week I think, any updates as to when you'll be getting them in?

that's interesting. I guess i'll run the gates belt and throw the stock one in the holder than.

I have had really good luck with a gates carbon belt on my Pro. I get more RPM out of it vs. the 115 as well.

I've been told AK is considered international shipping because the planes fly through international air space. In any case it's ridiculous and many businesses have lost my business because they simply don't give me the option to even pay for shipping things to AK. In most cases I would gladly pay the difference if you would at least give me a quote.

Another item to look at is the Polaris 1183 belt is 1.421" wide and the Gates 45C is 1.442" wide. Watch you belt to sheave clearance. Most of the Axys clutches we service seem to run large for the 1183 belts. However we have found some that were snug. The gates belt is an easy way to fix a large belt to sheave clearance. .021" on the table. I personally like to see the clearance on the tight side anyways.

FWIW here's what it would seemingly cost to get it to my city. $13.60

Since shipping and belt care have been a running topic of late

Maybe it would fit into one of these large flat rate boxes WITHOUT stuffing?

Inside Dimensions: 23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3"

I confirmed the medium USPS Flat Rate box ($13.60) is too small for even one belt! It is really close but would require a slight back bend to fit even when taken out of the sleeve. The back bend to fit in this box when taken out of the sleeve is about what it has when stored in the sleeve though. FWIW
You are not going to get two belts in this box regardless.

However smart money is this OPTION; four belts fit really well (still in the sleeve) in the Large Flat Box that MH has posted a picture of. The cost of postage for that box anywhere in the USA $18.85 (and $1.50 cheaper to any of it's military bases abroad). Buy four and get them shipped for less than $5 a piece. FWIW

If that is what USPS said that is what you would have been quoted if you asked for a quote. Again our site does not calculate the item weight and produce a real time shipping quote yet so the only way to get an accurate quote is to email us. For outside the US 48 or anywhere for that matter if the shipping seems outside the norm then it probably is. Our site is not yet smart enough to deal with every shipping situation that comes up. It is more based on a flat rate table at this point. We are hoping to revamp the entire site this spring and summer.
