What is the best gamming system out there right now between the PS3,
XBox360, and the Wie? I was leaning towards the PS3 because of the Blue ray, but wasn't sure if you could plug it into your surround sound system. Are there any good MX, or snowmobile games for any of them? Sorry, haven't bought a gaming system in about 5 years. Not really up to date on any of the new ones.
 
I've got an Xbox 360, and I like it. It kinda comes down to what kinds of games you like. The main selling point for the 360 is the Halo franchise. Also, some of the games that are for both it and the PS3 run better on the 360, because they were made there, then ported to the PS3. However, if you want a blu-ray player anyway, I'd get a PS3.

There are good MX games for both, I don't know which is better. You should be able to hook any of the systems up to a surround sound system, similar to any other component. If your surround sound is hooked to a receiver that has HDMI, even better.

Also, I don't know anything about the Wii, so can't help you there.
 
I'd rate the newer systems like this

Xbox 360
Upsides: Really great library of games, affordable, great online play
Downside: Possible quality issues, you could fry an egg on one after an hour of playing

PS3
Upside: Blu-Ray player built in...uh...it looks kinda cool...
Downside: $$$$$, not as many good games (personal opinion)

Wii
Upside: Really affordable, great multiplayer parties, encourages you to get off the couch to play it.
Downside: Had to figure out a way to play it from the couch (which I did), could be hard to find depending on where you live.
 
I own the Xbox360, i believe it has HD DVD, which is Toshibas version of Blue Ray. Will be buying a Wii soon, wont buy a PS3 until next year, sony needs extra time to figure out there issues. If you get a subscription to gamefly you can buy games for half price , all you do is tell them you want to keep a game and its yours. Making the games affordable. I would start with the 360, game library is awesome, unless you have little kids, then the Wii is more family oriented. Good luck. I am just gonna buy them all!!! Yes the 360 will hook in to your surround sound.
 
I just hooked up my Wii lastnight for the first time and played it for the very first, and haven't had a game since ATARI,....I think this would be a blast at a party with :beer; Got a driving game and I can see me spending some hours on the couch playing.....Good thing I have no life!
 
xbox doesnt have an hd dvd.. PS3 kicks the crap out of xbox360 in the graphics. I had a xbox and now ps3. plus if you get ps3, get mx untamed and you can race me and a bunch of guys online. there are also a couple other snowesters with ps3 and mx that play online.
 
Have a PS3 and love it. The graphics are awsome! I have it hooked up to my stereo(not suround sound, just regular stereo) but it has the regular red/yellow/white plugs to hook to suround sound.
I have not watched any Blue Rays on it, but only because I dont have the greatest TV so DVD's look fine on it.
All the systems have online play, games do vary from 1 system to the others.

I would love to have a Wii for parties. It is great when you have a bunch of people.
 
For strictly gaming purposes, the Xbox 360 is king. Higher quality games with better game play are what put the 360 above the PS3. And if you are into on-line play, Xbox live is light years better than what Sony has to offer. The 360 does have some reliability issues (everyone i know who has one, including me, has had the red ring of death) but i was absolutely shocked at how easy it was to have microsoft send me a new machine with an extended warrenty (BRP should take notes). The 360 also is cheaper than the PS3, but does not operate as a blu-ray player. Call of Duty 4 played on x-box live is the greatest game i have EVER played and is occupying alot of my time i should spend sleeping.

The PS3 however is still a very nice console. Graphics are indeed better and with a built in blu-ray player it makes it very attractive. The PS3 also does not have the reliability issues that the 360 does. PS3 is also improving their game play issues partly by going back to the dual shock controller and working the bugs out of the 6-axis controller (which in my opinion is a good concept but does not improve game play at this time with its current games). It is a spendy system but it plays blu-ray so its actually a really good deal.

The Wii is a good kids console or console to play with friends at parties. But for real gaming it simply cant compete. Price is cheap though.

I have a 360 but will also be getting a PS3 to serve as my new Blue-ray player and so i can play Gran Tourismo Prologe. You really cant go wrong with the 360 or the PS3, just depends on what you want to use it for.

The PS3 online is free just set up account.....I know with the regular xbox I was paying $50 a year!

Really enjoy the graphics and games on both...but I have always liked the PlayStation systems :D

I play Call of duty 4 online and Halo online and find I enjoy Call of Duty for game play!! So here is where I have noticed free server vs $50 a year server! Servers and rooms are better with the paid site, but for free I can deal with the PS3 server!

Not sure about the Wii system but we have all of the Nintendo systems :D :beer; Everyone that I have talked to say they are a blast though!!!!

Actually the 360 is an HD DVD player, i read the back of the box to verify. It plays both standard and HD. Most of the 360 games are HD format, Blue ray and HD are both methods for formating dvds. Allowing more info in a smaller place, kinda like wma's. I dont know if all 360s are HD DVD players, i spent a lot of money on mine, Elite with 120 hard drive. I like sony, dont get me wrong, i will own a PS3. I take my gaming very serious, we have MX untamed, cant stop playing, Is a blast. Have played the Wii as well, hurt my shoulder bowling, a ton of fun. Way cool for get togethers, and yes i am getting one of those as well. Gaming is really up to you and what you like, make your choice based on what you feel up to , either way you cant lose. Too bad we dont have this many choices in the upcoming presidential race....

I think the 360's starting to come into it's prime right now.

It usually takes 2 years after the release of a new console for the developers to figure out how to really optimize their games for the system, and I think we're seeing that now with the 360.

I know the quality and number of games has increased greatly this past year than from the year before.

I've never played the PS3, but I immagine it's probably pretty good too.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Something like that seems like it should pass the time in the summer. Has anybody played Tiger Woods golf? Had a buddy say it was a fun game. Thanks for the response's guys. I think I'll go try both of them out tomorrow, and decide. Anybody know how much $ the 3 systems are going for?

We have a wii hooked up to the projector and sound system in the conference room at work... It's fun :) I'm far from a gamer... played xbox a few times, haven't had the opportunity to play with a ps3 yet... though they run Linux and cluster up nicely, which is really cool :D

Holy Chit!!!! Take your games dang serious, i will practice up, i really need to practice!!!!! I have some issues, most of the time....
 
PS3!

I got a PS3 hooked up via HDMI to our new Samsung 120hz LCD. Nothing like playing games in HD. MLB the Show in 1080p is sick! As well as MX vs ATV Untamed. It is great online. Hockey is a blast as well.
