FYI- Polaris Pro RMK Driveshaft fix by EdgeWorks.

This isn't the first time, they had prototypes running all spring w/o these issues. We are complaining about ****ty integration from prototype to production or lack of quality control.

You might be talking quality control but others are running around like chicken little whilst these other guys are whipping out collars like mad to catch the sky.
As for integration, I have yet to hear an official reason why they are failing but I do not expect to either.
Granted I am riding a damn keyboard, it is -4 and we have no snow so ...

Whats really weird is that Polaris ( ya know, the company that you gave $12,000 to for this sled), doesn't have a fix yet

Do you really want them to rush through this? There is more to issues like this when you are the manufacturer. They have their work cut out for them, give them a little breathing room?

And do you yourself have a 2013 that has had a driveshaft fail?

if i install this on my 2013 pro will it void the warranty?

This will not void your wty. This would be like installing a gas rack on your tunnel. If there was an issue just remove it. This clamp will be able to be removed or installed in about 5 minutes.

They sure could if you had a failure. I'm not sure that they would, but they could. That is why I am just riding my sled and keeping an eye on the driveshaft until more is known.

This clamp is designed to give the end of the drive shaft added strength. Think of it as an insurance policy when your in the back country. If your shaft unfortunately failed in the back country, it would be a challenge to get it out.

If it turns out that there is more to the issue than a bad batch, and in that case if there is no factory recall and replacement using an updated and improved design, rather than applying a bandaid and always wondering if and when a failure will occur I will replace our driveshafts with 2012 driveshafts and enjoy our sleds. But for now I will wait and give Polaris a chance to completely identify the issue and see how they resolve it.

Imagine yourself having to call a chopper when you are stranded in the mountains or ruining the day for some of your friends by struggling to tow your sled out. Im betting you're going to be wondering if you could have avoided the broken driveshaft with a simple $100 fix. At least if it breaks after you've installed the clamp, you tried to be pre-active to a known issue.

"Imagining" is most of the problem here, but I'll play along and imagine that I did buy the bandaid clamp and when my shaft did fail anyway warranty was denied due to the clamp on the part of the shaft that let loose, and the impressions left on the shaft from the clamp was all the proof they needed for the denied warranty.......since we are imagining.......

I'll wait a bit and see what develops. If I don't like it, then I"ll be money ahead when I buy a good shaft versus wasting the money beforehand on the clamp.

Fix

so with this kit, you only get one clamp for one end of the shaft? Not two clamps (one for each end of the shaft) like the other companies are selling? Is that correct? I like hte design but if I understand that correctly, this would be almost twice as expensive as others for the same style of fix.??

if ya only got a booger up one nostril...you only have to stick your finger up the one side...

****ing hell, i work at an engineering firm. Want a professional engineers opinion on these fix kits? I will need dimensions and the intended forces but my guess is this fix kit will be laughed at. these collars may strengthen the aluminum shaft but the insert is still not properly secured to the shaft. My take on it is drive it like you stole it, if yours is one of the small percentages that breaks, it was the way your cards were laid, if it stays together your in luck your shaft was built properly.

Obviously 2 camps here.

1. Take a chance and ride it until it breaks, and then sit on the sidelines knowing that it will be warrantied but don't know how long.

2. Get your fix kit and ride it, taking the chance that Polaris will deny the warranty claim.

I'm betting that the guys that broke shafts (and still have rideable snow) would like a do over and would buy a fix kit and take their chances with warranty, which I doubt will be an issue. Now, the question is how long until they get fixed. I have 2 friends with broken sleds now.
