Forum Expert 9R review

Seeing these being quite light on the weights locally 5k-7,500' ish with the stock 72's - mirroring our expertly review. Bouncing off the limiter. Has anyone just chucked heavier weights in without other changes? If so...what are you running at what elev?

Put about 30 miles on my 155 2.75 9R today. All I can say is that it's worth the wait and all the BS. It truly lives up to the hype. Way more so than the Boost. It hits harder than Ike Turner on a 3 day bender. It literally flys out of the hole digging a hole everytime you pin it on the trail. Anyone who can't bowtie and gets this sled, will easily learn how to bowtie. I have never seen an engine grab RPMs as fast as this motor does. It goes from 2000 rpm to 8000 rpm in a second. The high elevation kit is 72s which I think is way to lite. I had 76s in mine today at 4500-5000 and it was holding 8550 to 8600 on long pulls. It was making an jaw dropping 46-47 mph track speed. Our snow isn't that great so it might have helped the numbers but that is the kind of numbers I see on my Boost. Luckily we had a 850 Matryx Slash Pro with identical set up all the way around to jump back and forth from. I would say the difference between the 850 and 9R is the difference between a 650 and an 850. It's that good. Old Rusty's TCCLGBQT sled is no longer going to be the king of his little hill. The 9R is for real. I guarantee when you guys get yours, you are going to forget all about this BS Polaris has been putting you through.
On a side note I tried riding the brake for a few seconds on the trail and it goes into a stupid limp mode (max 7k rpm) and a full red screen until you turn the sled off and restart. I rode technical trees all day and rode the trails with my finger on the brake all day. Not a single issue. Just like I had assumed this brake thing is not going to affect the people who have half a brain and understand the difference between finger on the brake and finger holding the brake.
Chadly,
At what elevation do you typically ride?

Chadly,
Is yours a Khaos or a Pro 9R?

So far I have only ridden the 9R between 3k to 5k. I would say 72 is not enough unless you are at 10k+. Anything under 4k I would say 80s is the way to go. I have a set of 80s on the way to test. I ran my turbo weights (78s) last time out and I was seeing 8400 with 69 mph track speed at about 5k. With 76s it was 8550 to 8600. This is with high elevation clutching. Not low elevation, as the low elevation clutching has a different helix. I plan on running the 76s in McCall.

My sled is a 155 Pro with a 2.75 track.

The 9R is obviously running a lot of power. Whether it's the engine, ECU, or all the lightweight mods. Needless to say, it can pull a LOT more weight than the 850 NA. The fact that it's pulling RPMs with more similar clutch weights to the boost tells you a lot.

I'm curious as to why you guys think they aren't same class?? I have only 3 rides , about 100 miles on the 9R. I'm running the same weights in my 9R as my boost and it's still over revs the turbo. The tracks speeds have been near identical. Up to 5000 they are the same if not I give the edge to the 9R. So even at 7k I don't think what more horsepower the Boost has, probably doesn't make up for the additional weight. To say they are not in the same class makes me think you have yet to ride one... Or you guys have drank way too much Bool-Aid ? I'll wait to give judgement at 12k+ when I head to CO to ride with Chris in a couple weeks.

At 7000’ a clutched turbo struggles to get away from a clutched 9R. At 10,000’ it’s another story. I pity the guys who ordered a prairie boost.
At 10,000’ it’s a tossup depending on your discipline.

There you guys go... The true forum expert has spoken. I hate to hurt feelings BUT the guys who are saying the 9R isn't in the same class as a Boost are the guys who couldn't afford a 2nd $400 payment to own a Boost and a 9R. Ask people who have both if you want an honest opinion. Very few people will tell you what they own sucks. That's why Rusty has been crying on here for a year. He dreamed his whole life to own his cherished prized possession Boost and when I slandered it, it demoralized him. He's still in therapy ?

For one thing who was payments at these interest rates? Two years ago it made sense when interest was cheaper than rate of return, but not now. All my riding is 10,000+, but I have a p85 waiting for kids my 9r when it shows up. Pumped to compare it to my boost so we'll see what I order next year.

Chadly,
Are you the Snowest forum expert?

Yes he is. However, he should be more careful. Patting himself repeatedly on the shoulder could cause a sprain or mislocation and he could miss 3%er ride time. This could impact his resident forum expert status affecting us all.
