Forum Expert 9R review

My new 850 had to be run in non-ethanol mode during break-in. It was hesitating around 5500 rpm. It was too fat in ethanol mode.

My 9R has been backfiring every so often... assuming that means too much fuel ending up in the silencer.

Scared the $*%# out of my bud today!

My 9r is pinging on ring gear like starter is not retracting. Dealership, the guy i traded with, sending me a new flex hose that i can't get at without a clutch puller. Assuming there are two bolts but can't see the other one. I think there is more to the equation. Spin clutch by hand and half of it doesn't drag.
Combine this with the retard who put rear bumper on it. 1/4 inch gap between bumper and tunnel. 1/8 inch gap between bolt head and inside of tunnel. Bolt at angle. They just let it go. That's part of your support. I have a bmp rear bumper for it. It just adds to the attraction.

I do wish the standard display had an indication of when break-in was complete.

What track speed is 9r “geared” for at 8000 rpm? Wondering if it is different than same track 850..

Mine backfires often too. Runs fine Tho. These things are awesome. Being completely honest….the 850 etec is a better motor compared to the 850 NA poo motor. It’s just stronger and snappier IMHO. Just a fact After riding both a lot . That being said, doo can’t make a clutch to save thier lives and my last doo a 2019 blew belts every 300-400kms like clockwork. This 9R tho…is better than the 850 doo etec. better in every way (unless you care about fuel consumption lol). Snappy, big power to the ground instantly….and that’s without a clutch kit installed (yet). Can’t wait to get it into some steep and deep soon. Also, I went over the entire machine, inside and out before riding it, making sure it was buttoned up properly, no loose crap in engine bay like guys are taking about on here, fit and finish was very good from factory. I know we absolutely should expect that fir the cash we are laying down These days, but we live in strange times and it’s nice to get what you paid for. Have fun riding yours!

I was planning on doing that. But wtf, we can run a can? Or is this is break in thing that others have experienced ? I had a 2017 free ride that didn’t like break in with a can…ran rich and fouled a plug. Otherwise this sled is crazy off the hook responsive and fun to ride. Thx guys
Cans… fine. Cans that haven’t been tested, not so great.

Put that cover on a 9r for theft deterrent.
