In the last 10 years, I would estimate I get about 3 "good" days of riding per year
around home. (average, sometimes more sometimes less)

2 trips per year racking up 3000-3500 of windshield miles for 500-600 sled miles.

All this, and I still get excited thinking about buying a new sled!

Honestly, it really is STUPID to get into snowmobiling for a flatlander!
I'm thinking coke may be a cheaper habit!

I hear ya. I try not to think how much i spend :D I seriously think it is an uncureable disease only tamed by powder thearapy. :beer;:beer;:D

I moved already.................................from Iowa to Wyoming, then Utah and now Idaho

I am home:beer;

i would love love to move but it seems that illinois has a firm hold on me
damnn itsnowin here right now 35 mph winds gustin to 50 and cold as hell yeah!!!

I blame it on this site... If I could stop "using" then I would probably not hear about the snow, see the pics, see the fun I'm missing out on...etc....

That's one reason I don't buy new sleds, I just waste tons of time and lots of money trying to build my own.

Meh, you can move out here Mafesto, our economy in wyoming is far superior to anything else in the lower 48 by a long shot. just a thought

Yup, been sledding from KS since I was a kid. Family and friends treked out west with trailers and trailers of John Deeres! Now my buds continue the crazy passion. Our immediate group of 8 friends are continually asked what the helz we have all those expensive machines living where we do!

I simply reply,

Fun Aint Cheap

At least you guys can make attempts at tiding over your addiction in the Midwest by trail riding in marginal at best conditions. I think I might take the cake on this subject. I'm stuck in Ft. Worth Texas (MN born and breed) and I managed to sink about another 3 G's in my sled this year. Got 200 miles while back home for Christmas and going to IP for a week in Feb. Other than that no riding.

Things are looking up though there's some major shakeups in my Dept at work which could open up some positions in better places.

Nothing like piling in the truck with your buddies for 16hrs. Get half way across SD and there isnt practically any cell service so nobody can bug you. Watching movies, tellin stories, and hangin out. Tell you what, I dont get much time for that, other than the drive out west.

The journey just makes the riding that much better!

Maybe I'm spoiled? I'm in the Washington Cascades and hour 20 from Seattle....The snow at the top of the pass is 135 inches deep right now....I have a cabin overlooking a lake and just finsihed building a retirement home on 3 acres 15 miles away.....The I-90 freeway cuts thru the vallley here....The cabin is on one side, the new house on the other.

From each, I ride out my back door and can go literally a hundred miles if I want to. many groomed trailed from each, mountains, hill climbs, bowls, high-marking, boondocking, what ever I want.......

I really feel truly blessed when I read thread about poor flatlanders riding "ditches"??????? Sorry, gotta run, 5 of use are leaving on a 2 day trip to a resort 71 miles from my back door!!!!!

Spoiled yeah but I'm sure you had to work for it.

I'm heading up to Spokane and Pasco on Thursday for work so maybe I'll get to look and drool a little while I'm there. Come to think of it I should pack my gear and rent a sled over the weekend????

You sir, SUCK! Why do you have taunt us like that, and fill our minds full of blasphemous tales of life outside of ditches? I'm closing my eyes and plugging my ears! La-la-la.....

On a slightly more serious note, I have had a really hard time staying sane, because the one good series of snowfalls we had here, I had to sit out while I got the crank bearings replaced! Now she is ready to go back together, but no snow...

XC700 you should definitly pack your gear, my brother said there is 18+ inches at his place in Cheney. Pasco had probably 8 inches yesterday with more to come. There is lots of fresh on Tollgate 8+ feet ( little over 1 1/2 hours from Pasco)

I enjoy the ride out.
But the ride back sucks!

there is no question the lodges in WY,MT, ID would suffer. It is a major investment to ride out west.

I have had worse habits , Moving is not an option for a few years at least so we do what we have to do t get our fix. I just feel really fortunate to be able to get out and do what I enjoy even though alot of people may not understand it.....If I drag them to the mountains once I would bet they would be back!!!!!
