Energy Food for all day Riding

I would like some new ideas on what all you riders pack for body fuel (energy food) that gets you through an awesome day of riding?? Besides the usual of snickers, hot doggers, nuts, trailmix, beer, etc.

eatmore bar, nuts, cheese, some kind of meat (pepperoni, jerky, suasage etc). no sugar or heavy processed food.

The key is to keep hydrated so lots of water and gatoraide.

Jerky
Powerbars (both protien and energy varieties)
Chips
Water

I need to get more carbs into there somehow. Might get a muffpot and start packing hotdogs.

I usually carry Natural Valley granolla bars, gatorade or powerade, water, snickers, usually a roast beef or ham sandwich and beef jerky.

I packed some dehydrated meals you find at the backpacking stores while elk hunting this year. I bought mine at Sportsman's Wharehouse. Really hits the spot in the cold to get a warm meal - assuming you have time and can get some water boiling.

Other than that, home made jerky, sandwiches, peanut M&M's, and emergency rations (powerbars).

Cliff bars, carrots, vegetable crackers, jerkey, and burritos in the hotdogger. For drinks it's a Camelback full of water, some gatoraides in the seat, and some beers in the dash bag.

my neighbor bought me a new microwave thermos that is used for food, keeps food warm for 6 hours. Im thinking chili on those snowy days is gonna work well. :D

edit - with some cholula of course.

Beer, Bananas, boiled eggs, peanut butter and alot of toilet paper makes for a interesting ride.

I know it doesn't matter to some people, but I used to bring cliff bars, I like them but found out they are big donors to closing down riding areas, so I no longer buy them. Thought some folks might like to know.

Hmmm..nope didn't know that one...thanks for letting me know..I liked them too..Dang it! Nope I won't buy them anymore either. Soooo..somebody (preferably a rider) needs to invent a new bar and call it the boondocking , carving, highmark, or big jump bar..something with all the above ingredients in it minus the TP...:P

most energy bar companys have the roots in the human power sports arenas. That is where they came from. i don't know much about wilderness athlete's products but it might be something to check out. They have a full line of energy bars and gu's. Bagels, cashews are another good food to take on the trail.

Sportsman friendly energy bars

My buddy just started working for these guys. http://wildernessathlete.org/
They donate part of their profits to sportsman organizations.
I told my buddy to find out who exactly they help out and if he could get them to support snowmobilers I could help spread the word on the forums.

Haven't tried them but they might be worth a shot.

1.75 of hot 100.. for those really cold days.. :D.. mainly augwa, snickers, sandwich, trail mix.. Cant use the hotdogger anymore cause of the turbo.. :(

Don't buy Clif Bars, Power Bars, etc. Wilderness Athlete is the real deal. I spoke with a couple of their execs about a months ago to get the straight scoop and I was impressed with their replies. I ordered up a case of WA bars (Mountain Berry Granola) - WAAAAAY better than any others I have tried - plus they aren't land closing greenies. Give 'em a try.

BTW - I have absolutely NO affiliation with them what so ever - just traded emails with some of their guys. Their marketing guy used to be the ad director (or something like that...) for SnoTech too.

EDIT - found the old email....

Jeff, I can appreciate your concern regarding what type of
organizations we would sponsor. We are a new company who
does not posess the ability yet to support anyone other
than sending free product to our troops in Iraq and also
to various hunting clubs for fundraising. All the
pricipals in W.A. are avid outdoorsman who hunt, fish.
backpack and in general just love being outdoors. None of
us belong to any of the organizations mentioned and
,although I respect their right to exist, I believe their
motives are misguided and based on emotion rather than
sound science, which strange as it might seem, is what they
think about people like us.We will undoubtedly support
org. like Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (
even though their writers can get a little bit touchy
feely for me) and the like. We actually have a seperate
division to the company called Warfighter Fuel which takes
these quality products to the military. I am kind of
rambling here but suffice it to say we support sportsman
and would appreciate any help you can give us in getting
the word out to the masses.I hope we are your kind of
Company. I would be happy to answer any other questions
you may have about the direction of Wilderness
Athlete.Best Regards. Mark Paulsen. Founder- Wilderness
Athlete
