Don't buy a sled from twsandrew

With that being said... the guy offered to pay to help make things right. Then your publicly shame him after you denied his help.

Let's clear this up once and for all...no he did not. He offered me $1500 for a rebuilt 3071 turbo. That's about what it's worth, maybe a couple hundred more.

I gave him the chance to reimburse some of the purchase price or to buy back the sled for the purchase price and he declined both.

That was before posting this thread.

He has not offered to help in any way. He wanted to buy the turbo I had to replace, after I rebuilt it.

"All you had to do is lift the hood to know this thing was crap and issues everywhere."

So you never even looked at a pic of under the hood before you made the purchase?

I rode with Andrew early this year and it was hitting rev limiter. I jumped on it and it was hitting 25 psi. I adjusted the boost controller several times and got it down to 14.

I think this is the root issue with this sled. The sled suddenly is building 11lbs more boost than normal, and rather than look for the cause you both decided turning down the boost controller was a better solution.

Are you serious? So when you hit 27 psi with it what was the first thing you did? Did you try turning down the boost controller first or did yiou pull apart the wastegate? Common sense tells me to turn down the boost controller first, which I did and sure enough the boost went down. If it hadn't of went down then I would of told Andrew to look elsewhere, it wasn't my sled. I was just trying to help a friend. Don't try to make it seem like this is my problem or my fault.

I'm not saying you had the same results as me by adjusting the boost controller, I'm just telling you what mine were and where looked first.

Also for future reference, all you had to do was a center section swap with any authorized Garrett dealer and it costs 450 max. Your mechanic should of known that. I guarantee Andrew would of paid for that. Gives you a brand new turbo reusing your compressor housing. Also, dobec fuel boxes for the apex are all over the swap meet for 150- 200. That alone would have saved you 1600 bucks.

And buying someone else's turbo apex could've saved me 10-12K. I dropped the turbo off at an authorized garrett dealer, I'll have to look into that more and see what they say. I decided to buy a new fuel box since I was trying to eliminate problems on the sled, I didn't want to buy a used box and hope it was good.

You're absolutely right, I did try turning down the boost controller first, just so I could get back to the truck. It had no effect. I actually replaced the boost controller before I took the waste gate apart too. I never said this was your problem or your fault.

Outright 30 series center section. Exchange program is Around 500.

I dealt with Andrew in the past granted it wasn't a sled but he fully disclosed everything related to exact condition of the part I was buying. It does suck to spend that kinda money on a USED sled and have issues but to own or build a sled of that caliber and not have things go wrong is ignorant! I've traveled many miles 1000 plus one way to pick up a tunnel and bulkhead and 1000 plus one way for a used Turbo kit! I seen what I was buying with my own eyes with my hard earned money!!!! In the middle of winter to buy a used sled and not throw a leg over it is another risk you take. I've seen this sled run in person and it was unreal! It was a few years ago and things happen in time but it has amazing potential once the bugs get ironed out. It sucks for all involved I don't know Andrew all that well but I have had dealings with him and it was positive. I don't see there being any negative intentions. Hope it all works out!!

It did not go wrong, it was wrong from the very start of him owning it. Apparently you do not see any difference. The sled was unintentionally misrepresented. Your statement is utter B.S

Who cares if it was unreal, when the buyer took delivery of it it was a whole lot less than "Unreal" It was a few years ago and things happen in time but it has amazing potential once the bugs get ironed out. Come on Andrew!

Come on Andrew!

I'm not Andrew first of all. Second was it a blatant misrepresentation or an honest overlooked set of issues?

Buying a used sled of this caliber and having other people work on it and try to fix some of the apparent issues makes me wonder if owning a machine like this is for you! I work and do all my own stuff on my sleds and that's how I learn, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. But I learn and understand the way things are supposed to work.

More times than not I see people with big deep pockets who have shops build them big dollar sleds and when some small issue comes up that is a very easy fix or adjustment its usually the shops fault or the mfg of the parts. It never falls on the ignorance of the owner not wanting to learn and understand these complex systems or what it takes to simply maintain them.

Good point however in his add it clearly stats it was just recently gone through completely and to quote, "this sled is flawless". Im not mentioning names on who went through it however he has already spoke his piece and Ive stated how it arrived and its condition.

I agree, it is apparent the once owner of this sled had no clue as to what he was or is doing, and after talking with others they only confirm my suspsicions. Its sad that it was advertised as such a great sled, which it clearly isnt. Will it be when we are done, yes, but as of now its a paperweight until then.

I'm simply amazed a guy can know so little about his sled... especially a guy running a full on mod sled. (Judging by his sig, 2 full on mods) Amazing.

On this one, I can fully understand. I am not a mechanically skilled individual but I like to drive good cars, sleds and ATV's. If I have mods, someone else puts them on. I have neither the expertise nor the tools to do them and prefer to know it's being done right by someone who does have the expertise and the tools. Not everyone is a gear head. I totally respect people who are, and I try to know the basics (and I mean basics- I can change a tire and the oil on a vehicle, I can change a belt and plugs on a sled) but I truly appreciate and admire people who can do a complete teardown and rebuild on a piece of equipment. I am not one of those people though but that shouldn't mean I can't have a really nice modded Jeep or sled or ATV if that's what I want. I'd hope someone wouldn't choose to disrespect me just because I'm not mechanical.
