T-stat and water temps

Wondering the same myself.

Ran the wedge with u-cooler and no t-stat. Whenof trail temps would drop below 100 quite fast. Full length cooler.

Read paper on here from Hooper about temps. Should be in the 140-170(?) range. Cant see how you would keep it stable with big cooler and no t-stat?

Simple theory is cooler = more Hp, but going WFO from bottom of hill on semi packed snow and hitting untouched powder up the hill must reduce temps rather fast or what?

do a double pass cooler in the back i have a pic of mine i will post tonight they are the shizz

Sorry, CPC wrote that. Not Hooper.

And the recomended temps were 115 - 140F. Not above 150 and not below 115.

Think I'm gonna run T-stat + gauge and see where it puts the temps.

Have been running a 910 at 80-100 for 3 years no issues.

Im running a stock edge rmk cooling system with thermostat and when riding off trail temps stay 120-130 all day long. Runs a little hotter down the trail but thats what ice scratchers are for.

My stat opens at 145 deg??? stock rmk stat. Gunna probably do a double pass and see what happens.

Took the sleds out today, 1200 had a loose chain, fixed it on the trail. Had a huge playday/lake race and the 1200 was unbeatable! Now the problem was when about halfway across the lake there was a big THUD, ZIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!! coasted, jumped off the sled and a buddy picked my up, and we later rescued the sled (it has been really warm, 60 deg or so, so I didnt know if the ice was gunna hold!) snapped the belt, hit max recall on the digi... 10,250 RPM!!! I think thats the max it will read, rode it back to the trailer and all seemed well, broke the front motor mount, 5/16"? rubber dampner/heim joint bolt snapped clean off from a straight pull!!!!

Has anyone done this and had any ill affects later down the road? With all the grunt I can see this happening alot with these motors.

If it is a Jim Hedland crank, it should be fine.

Its a wursten special.

I think the clutches were at max shift runnin 100 plus and just bottomed out the belt in the secondary till it snapped, pullin big mountains WOT with the same high gearing all day long without an issue and riding all day long not seeing the MPH on the lake, halfway through the 3rd hard run is when it snapped. It was on rails though!!!!

Brad gets his from Jim. I know the 1200 are not welded. No need.

Mat- Snapped many belts before and hit the rev limiter(10,000). I now have that problem fixed and have not snapped one yet this year. (I try to run hard on Ice.) I had to put my engine with 0 offset to the secondary. I have a solid bolt in the front left (Drilled oversize). My crank is fine and it is also welded.
I have gone all season and not broken anything this year.

i run a vanamburg tunnel and no t-stat. 110-120 in powder, on warm days i have seen 150-165 while running in wet heavy snow.

i dont have many belt issues but, twice now (most recently this weekend) my mag housing is coming loose, i can shake it with my hand. i just replaced the bolts and re-ground out the bulk head to make sure it is not hitting it and the thing came looose again leaving me stranded for the second ride in a row. anyone have a fix for this, i know i cant rebolt it in and make it stick. is there a possibility of tack welding it to the mag end of the crank?

tried that, no luck.....talked with brad, i am going to send it back and bore the holes a bit deeper and add 2 more bolt holes to hold her down.
