What's your opinion of running more oil in your DD Lite? Is this a good idea?

Too much oil will cause cavitation thereby creating heat and loss of power. Make sure you do not fill anymore than what is required, 3.5 - 4 oz for 04-06 DD, 12oz for 07 and 08, 15 oz for 09 and 10, 4-5 oz for Diamond Lite Drive. Biggest factor is side load to the planetary gear thrust washers while at full throttle and above 65mph. We are working on a new planetary that will eliminate these problems and provide 40% more load rating.

Exploded my planetary gear in my DD, looks like it all started when the thrust washer went. From what was left of the washer it looked like it got hot and maybe seized. Priced out the parts to fix it looks like around $600 if I do it myself. Going to go with the DD lite from BD. Seems like these guys back the stuff 100%.

In the future I plan to pull the DD every season and inspect.

DDLite

mine didnt explode, but a serious whack to my reverse actuator when a belt blew.........started my issues. the mechanism never worked right again, and would require another good whack on the solenoid to release the reverse......So i shiat-canned the oem case and went with the DDlite. The weight loss is pretty huge and its obviously stronger with less rotating crap to fail, composite rotor, and etc.....the track spins effortlessly by hand while onthe stand, nothing like before. way stoked!! BDX hats off to you!!
