just exploded the sun gear on the ole M1000 turbo diamond drive. It was the BD-xtreme diamond drive. ANyone else have one come apart? I will try crogenic freezing the next one before installing. any other ideas? I hope this isn't going to be a weak point on these TM1000's.

I have talked with BD a couple times on the phone about the DDlite and was days from ordering the DDlite from BDExtreme. What was BDExtreme's response when you contacted them? How long did you run with turbo?

it was the Diamond lite drive. It was the sun gear that failed. I drove back (doubled on a rev ) to the trailer, pulled a sun gear out of my m7 and drove back up hill, changed it and drove off, it was about a 8 hour deal..a real adventure changing dd gears at night, in the mountains, 30miles in...in a blizzard..4 feet fresh snow.. no really. it was kinda cool. anyways..

I ordered another complete dd lite drive from you guys and it arrived today, I am sending it in to get cyro frozen tomorrow.

Warranty would be appreciated, had about 15 days of turbo m1000 ridding on it, it let go on a hard pull. pm me for more info.

thanks

warranty?

I was going to get a lite drive for my turbo , but if they are not holding together and they won't warranty them, I do not think I will be going that route. keep posted as to what happens, it will affect my decision most definatly.

The one my son piled up was a stock DD with reverse, and he was just doddling down the trail at 30 kmh on the way home. All deep powder running all day, and breaking in an engine so there really never was much heavy stress put on it. Only did two small climbs at half throttle.

What broke on the stock DD. I just broke mine also. It was the stock planetary unit. Trashed inside. 185 miles on the sled. Luckely it broke at the truck. Had been riding powder all day and rode 20 miles back to the truck. Shut of the motor and it never moved again. The sled is not stock, with Speedworks twins, porting, headwork. Is this a common problem and is that why people are chaning out the reverse?

The dealer fixed it, so I never saw exactly what went. I just heard about another M1000 DD failure though. Not lookin' good!

Same here...people were freaking out when I was trying to sell my sled this fall (so much for being honest on here while selling stuff) but it IS a common problem. Just a matter of time. I'd do the chaincase replacement in a hearbeat...Polaris HYVO system last and lasts. Seen them go 6000 miles without a single issue on several sleds. Not impressed at all with the amount of backlash in the DD (about 10 degrees!!) and/or the reliability. I can assure you they are blowing up due to this backlash...talk about tremendous forces being generated out of simple scenerios (on the gas then hitting the brakes). Buddy had 2 go out...I had one go out last year. Both under 1500 miles. Stock machines. I kept the sled though...it's simply too good in the deep snow and it just flat out runs and runs and runs. BTW - Cat replaced the entire drive with no questions asked but expect them to go...

I had a diamond drive blow up on a turbo M8 this weekend as well. Now I need to decide to go with a new BD unit or stock with more oil/ no reverse on the stock?

diamond lite issue

I just blew my new diamond drive lite on the weekend. I got 2 days out of it before the outside case blew apart and destroyed my secondary as well. I talked to BD Xtreme and they seem knowledgeable and willing to work with me on it as it was only 2 rides old. I rode 2 powder days and hit nothing. I was being tugged out of a hole when it let go so I was at about half throttle. I will keep you posted on how it all gets dealt with...bill
