The gist of the article:
WASHINGTON – A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats...

Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists," it says. "DHS/I&A is concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize veterans in order to boost their violent capacities...

The report also mentions "'end times' prophecies could motivate extremist individuals and groups to stockpile food [OMG, DHS has to stop THAT!], ammunition and weapons. These teachings also have been linked with the radicalization of domestic extremist individuals and groups in the past, such as the violent Christian Identity organizations and extremist members of the militia movement."...

The report states the DHS will be working with state and local partners over the next several months to determine the levels of right-wing extremist activity in the U.S...

It further warned law enforcement to watch out for individuals with "radical" ideologies based on Christian views, such as opposing illegal immigration, abortion and federal taxes...

Since when does believing in the Constitution make you an extremist? There are 192 other countries to live in if you don't like the Constitution. Why can't the left half move to any one of them and leave the right half alone?

Granted I don't live in the USA (I have a ton of family living all over the states though), but from what I've seen/read I think the left is starting to realize that if things get bad enough to come to another civil war, that its going to be a pretty one sided fight. Because, conservatives can actually accomplish a lot in a very short period of time. Where liberals, slowly (incrementalism) and very completely destroy a society, without the general population even detecting it. Violence versus lawyers and feelings and emotion.

The paper is written from a government point of view. Liberals strengthen government, by creating more government jobs and expanding government until it is the society. Conservatives believe in the government being beholding to the people, and limiting the size of government. (at least that used to be the definition)

If I were a socialist, working for the government, I'd be scared of conservatives also.

Our constitution is a masterpiece, along with it's supporting Bill of Rights. It provides liberty, freedom, and justice to everyone. It protects all religions, and some alternative lifestyles. It provides a very unique right, for the citizenry to control the government, and the means by which to control the government. There are lots of people that would love to see it the other way around. Have us become completely dependent upon our government. Have the government decide everything for us, and our families, and assign resources to us based on our needs, not our desires or hard work.

If DHS is scared of conservatives, good. It just means they aren't as stupid as I assumed. Personally, I'm not backing some End of Days crazy, or some white christian only types, or even a corporate monopoly form of society, just good old personal responsibility, and hard work, and the government leaving people alone, and letting them keep what they earned.

The Government has the balls to put out a report saying that the same people that are called on to protect this nation are now a threat to this nation???
