cutting a 163 to a 155????

I want to cut my tunnel down to a 155 and put a 155 track and skid on my sled. Does anybody have any tips or experience with this???? how much would it cost me to do it?? I dunno if it would just be better to sell the 163 and buy a 155 or try it. Any thoughts???

Tunnel

You would have to cut the heat exchangers down I would say not to do it you may end up with a mess and a ruined tunnel it's only about 4 inches longer I would just leave the tunnel alone and put the track in it

I talked to darcy about it yesterday, he said that cutting his sled cost him about 500 bucks and was a lot scarier than it was difficult. Im toying with selling it i just want to weigh out all of my options... Plus i love my sled and it runs great so i wouldnt want to risk getting someone elses sled that has been rallied..

What I am saying is that there is no such thing as a 146 pro, but there are tons of 155's. His cost to cut down his was the cost of the cut and weld only. You will also need to buy a new track and skid. Too much when you can actually just sell and buy. Unless you are going timbersled or another custom option it will be cheaper and less headache to just sell and buy. Of course this is just my opinion.

Gains vs. Losses

No way would I touch the tunnel.

Gain?
Nothing.

Losses.
Money.
Time.
Warranty.
Book Value.
And that's if everything goes good!

You mentioned you love the sled, so keep it. I have a 163" and a 155". There is a difference........... but not much.

On the book value. If you sell or trade it in the future no one in their right mind that is looking to buy a 155" would buy it when there are 100's of the unmodified ones out there. :light:
$.02

Probably wouldn't have much trouble trading straight across for a 163 same miles especially in UT.
Fwiw I can't imagine much difference in track speed and handling between the 2 anyway.

Thanks for the input guys. I've just decided to sell it and buy a year newer with some warrenty left on it. Cutting the tunnel is too sketchy. Ive now got a sweet 2011 163 for sale if anybody is interested
