Just wanted to know if you could take the road to the west, right in cowdrey, if there is a place you can park up there and drop off and ride?

yes it is do able road is plowed back in maybe ten miles then you can drop and ride

We are in the planning stages to a cabin 3 miles south of Pearl, Co. It's one of those cabins on the vrbo website but are unsure about where you could actually ride (private land, wilderness,etc) is what we are concerned about. We are planning a 4-5 day trip as gas prices have lead us to only maybe making 1 trip this season. We always ride the Snowies or RE and are looking at something different. From the looks of the map we would have to take in our own fuel unless we would want drive 20+ miles each day to fuel up. The cabin is off the main road and according to the web site has to be accessed by sled only. It would be nice to ride from the cabin without loading and unloading each day....so I guess I'm looking for any info about this area or near it, just seen that Cowdrey is only about 20 miles from Pearl so I thought someone would know the area. Sorry for the long post!!! Any info is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Depending how far south you are you may be stuck to the low country below the wilderness area. That would suck looking up at all you can't ride! I ran across some cabins/homes for rent in the Hahns peak/Steamboat Lake area. Same range as RE, just north 20 miles. Try Midnight guest ranch for some really nice cabins with sledding right outside the door. http://midnightranch.com/cabins.php There are several VRBO rentals in that area too. Search Clark, CO, Columbine, or Steamboat Lake and some should pop up. There are a few resteraunt/bars nearby too. You only have one trip, do it up right!

You could always try Black mesa lodge outside of cowdry had some good riding there last year. You would have to arrange for gas but they are very workable.
